Track trim superior to other Z's?
Love my TRACK. I bought the TRACK cuz I usually buy the
top model offered on most things I buy assuming the value is there. I felt the TRACK model offered me the Extras I wanted in one nice package ready to drive.

I ordered a performance over a track for several reasons. First off, the track wheels are more expensive, and are not exactly what I would pick out if I wanted sportier wheels. Second is the brakes. Brembo's are a good company, but not when they are just barely over 12" diameter. Whats the point, buy bigger diameter Stoptechs later on. Lastly, you lose the tire pressure monitors that you get in the Performance model.
So, ya save a few bucks with the Performance. Then you convert those dollars to even better brakes and better wheels. Items you can personally pick out. Better deal for me, IMO.
Any opinions?

I have a 2003 CS performance model, and am in the process of trading it in for a slightly used 2004 CS track. The track model comes with everything that I need(with katzkin black leather, of course) and looks great. Touring model is a rip-off(you wonder why they always have more of them in stock--this is the model that they *want* to sell because they make more money off of it) Enthusiast is the second-best value, and saves you the money for you to, in-turn, use on the aftermarket. Track has everything I want. Take it easy, guys.
The Touring with 6 speed has a tire pressure monitor as well....and computer, and heated leather, and Bose, and mine had Aero package, plus IMO the Touring's 18 inch wheels look MUCH better than those on the Track. The only advantage ive seen for the Track is the Brembo's...thats it. The Touring offers more.
The Bose is an absolute waste of money.
What good are the heated seats? This is a sports car that's not meant to be driven at times that it's cold enough to need heated seats.
The tourings 18" wheels couldn't look more boring.
The Track is the only trim that comes with the aero package standard
The Brembos easily beat out the other trim's brakes
You can get leather in the Track for only a little bit more money
...and finally, the Track is the top trim for the car. Everyone knows it

My Bose sounds awesome....heated seats feel nice ;-) my car has an Aero...i wasnt speaking for all Tourings's, just mine ;-)
The Track's wheels look like something out of ricermag.com. The Track's brakes are better, but in normal everyday traffic whats the diff?? Yes, you can get leather in the Track "for a little more money", but in mine they were included.

The only good thing on the track is the brembos.
The best thing about the touring is the heated seats...the women absolutly love them.
and if everyone is soooo worried about the few pounds, why not just s#@t before you drive your car.

When I was shopping for my Z, one dealer kept saying how the Touring edition was the way to go and that he thought that Nissan would eventually not even offer the Track edition. I kind of noticed that he didn't have any Track Zs in his showroom or lot.
In fact, other Nissan dealerships I visited mostly had Touring or lower models sitting on their lots with Track editions being very scarce-- so this kind of blew his argument away.
Needless to say, I didn't buy my car from this moron. Found my Track Z a few weeks later and bought it the same day! And I've been very happy with the extras it offers.
If money wasn't an issue, I think that most people would say that they'd go with the Track edition hands down!
As for leather and heated seats... Come on, like you wouldn't buy the Z if they didn't offer these in the car. Sure, they are nice to have, but I think most of the people here bought the Z because it's a great performance car.
Brembos + Rays racing wheels= performance
leather + heated seats= buy a Cadillac

I went to Stillen and talked to one of the guys there on what his opinion was on what model to get. He recommended going with one of the models below the Track because with the money I would save I could buy a set of the Alcon brakes if I really felt I needed more braking power. He stated the Brembos on the Track have the smallest piston size they make for a 4 piston caliper.
When I found out the wheel/tire size on the Track is the same as the Performance model I bought it since I will get SSR wheels in a wider size anyway.

It was a real toss-up for me between the Touring and the Track model, but I decided that since I was buying a sports car I should get the more performance oriented package. Plus, the look of the Rays wheels and Brembos peeking out behind them add a lot to the look of the car. I've had my Z on a road course a few times and the brakes are awesome, more than adequate for any track driving 99% of us will ever do.
I plan on modifying my Z in the future, but it is nice to have things like wheels and brakes done from the factory. Having them covered by warranty is a nice plus too. I think any of the big brake kits are just plain overkill unless you get them for the looks, I remember reading where a few people who professionally raced their Zs were using the stock brembos with new pads and had no problems with fade, and I am sure the bigger brakes add more unwanted weight. Plus, the Track model is probably the rarest of the models, and in the future it will probably be the most collectible as well.

Btw, hi! I'm new here
Just started reading as I'm probably going to end up driving a 350ZR off the lot this coming Saturday.
I bought my touring for the heated seats, heated mirrors, leather and the Bose (which has since been changed). I would not say Track is the top-end model. I wouldn't say the touring is either.
What I would say is the track model is for those who want top-end stock performance. The touring model is for those of us who want the creature comforts. Either way you can't go wrong. I wish they made a touring with Brembos though. That is my only complaint.

"well hell yeah its worth 950$. its sposed to be a 6000$ difference.
the resale value along is worth 950$.
whats confusing is how you got the dealer to knock 5000$ off the track and nothing off the enthusiast... or was the track slightly used."

the models were both brand new ... my car having 48 miles on it and the enth with 26 .... just test drive miles.
I don't know why the dealer was so much more willing to make the deal on the track (it had been in their showroom for almost 2 months) the enth was a week old. I was planning on getting the Enth and my father(aka my financial advisor) brought up the same point of the $950 being seen in resale down the road.
12" brakes ??? dont think that is correct, but regardless they stop great for me ... never seem to fade ... and get comments at every other stoplight .... yeah the SVT Cobra and a few others have Brembos as well ... but hey ... I respect the Cobra, and I am proud to share a brake system with them

By no means am I saying that the Track edition is the ULTIMATE in performance--- there are performance parts available to turn almost any car into a rocket.
But out of all of the Z packages available, the Track edition definitely offers you higher performance straight from the manufacturer.
Yeah...im saying that i wouldnt have gotten a 350Z if leather and heated and other niceties werent options. I would have gotten an RSX-S if the only Z i could get is thew barebones base model. I can get more HP in any car, i want the classy, luxury interior to go with it. Other-wise i'd just get an F-body or a rustang.
