Unhappy 3m installation disaster *please help*

I am in desperate need of advice regarding the 3m clear bra kit- I’ve had a terrible experience. After reading all the posts on this topic, the only thing I can deduce is a bad installer, which surprises me because this person is highly detail attentive and has done this on many high-end cars/suvs as well as great work for me in the past. His reason for the problem was a ‘bad kit’. He said the kit is too new and will require more installations/complaints from the installer before they get the pattern right. Supposedly this kit is from X-pel, however after looking at everyone’s pictures of the X-pel kit, I can find many differences (hood area coverage). It looks like this should’ve been stretched more. He had to cut the bumper piece into 11 separate pieces to get coverage. ***disaster*** I know I couldn’t have done any better (and he didn’t charge me anything), but I’m so frustrated because nobody else seems to be having any problems with this stuff. So, a few questions please…. First, is everyone’s mirror pattern applied in two pieces? And, should the bumper piece provide coverage up to the bottom of the headlamp lens? (along that small ridge just below the lens) Also, I would greatly appreciate the name of a reputable installer. I’m in Birmingham, but have friends and family in Atlanta and Nashville. Thanks much for any information. (yes these pictures are painful…. Or just plain funny)

Default That is just wrong.....

You say he has done work for you before? That install doesn't look like it. That is the sadest insall I have ever seen. I would remove it and find a new installer and get it done the correct way. I don't think it was necesary to cut it into 19 peices. Sorry man.

Default Sorry man...

That stuff has to come off....
I can't vouch for kit quality here as I have not seen it IRL, but I can say the price is right and looks good in the pics.

Those pictures are what the kit *should* look like when properly installed.
Again, sorry this happened to you.

that is so sad. i feel for you. but i would ask him to remove that junk now before it leaves a permanent mark with all those gaps in between the sepaarate pieces. it looks like packaging tape applied to your car.

You got hosed... and it may have been user error and not a bad kit. Looks like he/she diced it up because he didn't know to stretch it onto the body?

I'm sorry that looks horrible. I got my stuff installed and it took 1 hour but the front bumper piece was only 2 pieces, one for the bumper and one for the bottom part under the black grille. It stretches to the edge as well but doesn't cover the yellow sidemarker light on the bumper. I have some pics in another post if you take a look.
