I see this guy around my area with a 350z, and his engine is loud!
even at low rpm's it is really a monster. It's not a low deep rumble, it's the sound of the actual engine (like each piston doing its job) What gives it that sound? Most videos on good exhaust pipes I see with headers and so on, its just a deep tone, not the actual sound, not really sure how to explain it.
A cam change will also give more definition to the sound of the engine.
This - and also could be a plenum change. Ever since I changed to a Kinetix V+ plenum, the engine sound is much louder, even at lower RPMs. The manifold is some form of plastic, so might be the reason why sound comes out of it easier.
Just a simple pop charger and plenum spacer can make your car a lot throatier. Mine is louder above 3500 RPM and at low RPM in high gear when I stomp on it.

Louder from the plenum spacer? I got one from Z1 and i've been too lazy to install it but I don't want my car sounding any louder so people will think it's somewhat modified.
Andy when you hear hoof beats in the hallway, think horses, not Zebras. There is a little POS car down the block from me with a broken exhaust that’s loud as hell. When I hear it, I think open exhaust, not exotic engine swap, extensive mods, etc.
