Default How's the transition from a low performance sedan to a 350z?

So i'm picking up my Z hopefully within the next few weeks and i'm having some concern about switching to a high performance sports car after driving lesser performance cars for many years ( volvo xc90, ford escape, toyota corolla). Will it be difficult to control and potentially TOO fast? Will i have to constantly remind myself to slow down? I'd consider myself to be a fairly responsible driver, i'm not constantly speeding or trying to race on roads, i just don't want to be a lethal 3,000 pound machine on the roads once i get it. What should i expect? Any advice is much appreciated!

Don't drive it like an idiot and you will be fine. Have to respect the power.

This is a pretty stupid question though. Did you plan on red lining it right when you got it? If so maybe you shouldn't drive a Z..

lol to powerful? I went from a 600+whp 2700lb rocket ship to this slow heavy pretty looking thing. This car is nothing crazy most grandmothers could drive it in stock form. OP your question would make more sense if you had concern about switching to a C6 ZO6. Buy a civic si thats plenty fast and plenty safe (fwd) for people with questions like yours.

. i got a my Z after i've owned a civic EX for about 10 years. I love this car so much more. I'm probably not going to ever want to buy another econobox. going from ~$35 to ~$65 at the pump hurts though.

the 350z is fast enough to be fun, and fast enough to get you in trouble. take it easy, learn the car and leave traction control on if you car has it.

"Hopefully picking it up within the next several weeks".
What does this mean?
Are you actually buying A car or just kicking tires?
Your post almost sounds like a troll.
If you are on the level, test drive a Z,see how you like it.
Too much car for you, don't buy it.

I had been driving either a '00 Silverado and a '03 Accord for at least six years before getting my '08 Z. I drove 100 miles in the rain on unfamiliar roads on the way home without a problem.

The Z is not hard to drive. Compared to most of the RWD cars I've been in, it has a ton of grip and the back is easy to control when it slips. It's not some old American muscle car with 500 hp that's going to try to kill you if you turn the steering wheel.

EDIT: I noticed you're in Indy, too. Maybe I'll see you around sometime. Hopefully, not in a ditch.

Leave the traction control on and don't take the turns too fast. No full throttle unless you are going straight. Driving a Z28 6 speed in a snow storm was scary but I just drove extra slow. 350s are not that crazy fast and they need to rev to make power so just keep the revs low.

Fixed.

Drive the Z like any other vehicle on public roads. If you notice blue lights behind you, or that inanimate object appears to be coming at you awful fast, you've used too much right foot and not enough common sense.

mind the RWD. Especially in rain. and especially if you get a base model without traction control. I went from a base rsx (slow fwd) to the Z. For me personally manual was tricky to get smooth because of the crappy Z shift pedal feel and the torque. I have a Z with traction control and its saved me a few times.

EDIT:
Drive safe and if you do wreck it, post pictures.
