They are held on with double sided sticky tape. The replacement ones come with it attached to the back. You just peel off the backing and stick them on. You have to remove the old adhesive first with alcohol and clean the surface first.
To get the old one off, heat it up with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes and then either run some strong fishing line beneath it, or pry it off with a padded screwdriver. Make sure you pry INSIDE the emblem so if you scratch anything, the new emblem will cover it.
as a side note: you might not want to post piccies with your license plate clearly readable. you never know who's prying eyes are viewing hte board.

Well, it was one of those silver lining things, I got rear ended so while in the shop I told them not to replace the badges and just fill in the holes.

Anyone happen to have a pic of the trunk with the badge removed, but the holes still there? I was thinking of taking off the BIG A$$ Nissan "hamburger" and putting on a smaller one... say, from an Xterra or something. They look to be about 1/2 the size...
