Trying to convince my Dad to get me a 350z
I've been lurking here a while. Promised myself I would lurk more before registering. But OP, you need to hear this.
Here's how this will go, you will either listen to me, and have fun here on this forum, or you won't listen to me and this'll happen:
1. This thread will continue to destroy your anus until a mod finally closes it.
2. You will be butthurt
3. Nothing else you say here will ever be treated with respect.
4. You will keep trying, an failing, to fit in.
5. Eventually you will just go crazy an turn into an *******. "everyone else is mean, so if I'm mean, I'll fit in right?" wrong.
6. You'll get a temp ban for something small
7. Come back with public apology and swear to be better
8. You still don't get respected.
9. Within 6 months, you'll be permabanned.
Now OP, I suggest you listen close. First I will give you advice on how to succeed on an Internet forum. Then I will give you advice on the z.
Always, always, ALWAYS lurk before registering. Otherwise you are asking for a new butthole. Take responsibility. Even though these guys came off rough at first, they sincerely want you to understand them that you are making a 'potentially' (sorry
had to) huge mistake. You keep arguing pointlessly. It's 99 to 1 and you WILL fail. Sometimes the best way to wiggle out of these things is to apologize, say thanks for the advice, and back off. And one of the most important things is never respond to the *******s. Some of these guys just want to bust your ***** because they know you'll bite the bait. If you absolutely must post, here's a good example or a way to deal with hate (big difference between hate and criticism. Learn it ) "lol bro you are retarded. Gtfo" something like "aww man thanks! I always appreciate A good compliment". Either they will get bored, or respect you for taking a joke. Everything I'm spitting out here is advice I learned the hard way. Because I ignored the one nice guy (me in this whole sitch) who sincerely wanted to help me. Do not follow my steps. Learn the ropes before you post.
Now on to the Z. Most of these guys are spot on. It's not a good idea. I used to be just like you. The 350z is still my dream car because it has so much potential. Anything anyone has said here about finances, take the advice. I don't need to re-post their stuff. But here's another thing, walk up to your dad and say "dad, I've decided the 350 isn't in our (be sure to say our) best financial interest. The jeep is a perfectly driveable car and ill save up money to buy my own car later). Besides making a great financial decision, your dad will respect you a poop ton more. Trust me, I've been there. But now insurance, these guys are a tad off. When I was 17, zero wrecks, zero tickets, the cheapest insurance I could come accross for a 350 was 300+ dollars/mo. Long story short, do not do it.
My final word of advice, don't post here again. Not even to respond to me. Under no circumstances should you post in this ****-fling again.
/thread
P.s. you don't "paint" with plasti dip. And most far enthusiasts will not take kindly to anything that is a cheap way out. Google is a good tool. Use it.

I pay 315 every 6mo for full coverage and have had a crap ton of speeding tickets. I dont get how some people are paying over 100 a month with clean records.
Depends on where you live $85 a month for mine full coverage. I'm 38 , but the stats show that its about 1 out of 3 drivers are drunk in Vegas. Only 50% of the drivers have insurance.
I would have had I seen all of them before posting. But I had not read it all yet, and as I was reading - I kept seeing things I had to comment on. It couldn't wait.

aww.
haha

aww.
haha
We are also the state with the second highest amount of car accidents and traffic related fatalities per year, my insurance in Cali was 122 a month full coverage with extras, out here its 172 with the same company and that was the cheapest
It sounds like your parents started on the right path by helping you out with giving you a car to drive instead of letting you go into debt to buy one but now it's your turn.
I'm not going to tell you getting the Z is a bad idea. I bought mine 5 years ago with 48k on it. I have 103k on it now and haven't had any issues with it. When I first bought it I had to replace the brake pads and tires ($1k). Last year I replaced the wheels & tires ($2k). This year I spent $2k on an Akebono big brake kit. I also have a set of snow tires for it. It's never been in the shop for anything but tires and oil changes.
But, you need to learn to not use other people's money, not your parent's, not the bank's, only your own cash! If you don't owe people money you can't get yourself in trouble if something goes wrong with your "potential" plan. Drive the free to you vehicle whether it's the Jeep or the Z and put every penny you make towards buying your own car. If your dad makes the trade I'd come up with a payment plan to pay your parents for the Z if that's what you really want. The only thing you should ever finance is a house. I know they'll tell you different in your financial classes and whatnot but the truth is at some point in your life you will lose your job unexpectedly and if you have a car payment, credit card debt, student loans, rent/mortgage all it takes is a few months and you'll be buried and never recover from it. Not to mention all of the interest you'll pay throughout your life! 3, 4, 5, even 10% doesn't sound like a lot when they break it down into payments until you add it all up year after year.
Yeah man its crazy i see at least two accidents a day out here.
OP isnt here anymore but good advice nontheless
"Potentially" and "Possibly" will get you in trouble. If you want to make it in life it's all about managing the money you have and not the money you'll be earning in the future aka Living Paycheck to Paycheck!

Seriously, there need to be a my350 "greatest hits" thread with the top 20 funniest threads, and epic flame war threads of all time.
I'm referring to the moron OP and his MinionNewbTards that actually think these threads are going to lead to anything constructive.
OP.. keep the damn jeep. Better yourself in life and not concern yourself with a super cool 350z.
