Anyone drive a 350Z or 370Z in the winter in Winnipeg or winters similar to Winnipeg winters? Looking to buy a 350Z or 370Z but must be a daily driver in Winnipeg. Just moved to Winnipeg. If I do get one, I will buy winter tires but my main concern is ground clearance. Also, no indoor parking so the car would be parked outside all year round.

 

Some people say you'll be good with snow tires, heard good things about the blizzaks.

Me.....I'd never own a rwd as a dd for when winter comes around.

Winnipeg winters aren't that bad. It's not like Buffalo for crying out loud. You'll be fine.

 

Not sure how Winnipeg winters compare to Toronto, but I drove my z this past winter with winter tires (225/55/17s all around) and I was fine. Just have to be careful on the throttle and you'll be fine.

 

Make sure you have a full tank, a concrete slab in the trunk and a set of winter tyres and you're good to go.

I tried to drive mine in snow with winter tires and found it highly difficult. I'm not a newb to winter and have lived in wny all my life.

One thing you can't change is ground clearance and the fact it's a rwd sports car. Safety features help but it comes down to tires and driver.

 

Tires and driver are the biggest factors IMO. The E92 M3 is around the same ground clearance, RWD, and plenty of people daily it in Toronto area with no problems. I just wanted insight on why people keep insisting the Z sucks in snow even compared to regular sedans. I doubt on a plowed road, a 350Z would be any worst than say a civic. But in unplowed snow, obviously the Z would get stuck but i highly doubt any regular car can get out too unless you have like some truck or maybe the STI/EVO. My friends 370z nismo got stuck numerous times in last winter in Toronto which made me second guess myself on buying a 350/370Z. But he said the drive way was unplowed so I'm pretty sure most cars would get stuck too.

 

Odds are if you're driving in winter you will find some roads or driveways to be unplowed. Even a couple of inches will cause the Z to be in trouble, even with snow tires.
