Default Buying a Z. What to look for?

Hey guys im new on here but this weekend I'm going to look at a 2007 350z touring with 22k miles. its a 6M with the bose and its daytona blue. I was just wondering what type of things i should be looking for while inspecting/test driving it.

Thanks in advance.

I would say...look for anything you would normally look for when shopping for a used vehicle. The search function will give you more specific insight into this.

Search. Typically clutch, tranny and engine. Make sure it's all good.

With a 2007 and low mileage Z you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Seriously consider the previous owner and how they used/maintained the vehicle. You'll want to be cautious if there are a lot of aftermarket parts and the owner may have beat the crap out of it.

Also check the undercarriage if you can. My Z had some damage to the plastic wheel wells that is hard to identify without getting underneath the car (not a huge deal but good to check for)

Good luck.

Drive it for a good while and feel out all the gears. Make sure the clutch isn't shot. Don't know if you've driven a Z yet but the clutch engagement is high so keep that in mind.

Make sure it has the titanium rotor flaps. If it doesn't you should stay far away.

Run through all the gears when going for a test drive. shift at low rpms one round and the next round shift around 5k rpms. to make sure everything is safe and sound, running how its supposed to.

also if its a clean tittle. carefully check all body panels for recent paint. you can mainly tell by color match, orange peel, or a bad tape job.
Mine is a clean tittle but I recently just found out it was in a fender bender due to a small amount of overspray onto some plastic.
Just something to keep note of

Thanks for all the quick responses guys. I was very surprised when I found the 07 int this color cause i had never seen one in Daytona blue with the HR. As for aftermarket parts the car is completely stock with the exception on 4 all season high performance tires and 35% tint. Owner is also 68 years old and the car has only been driven in rain a handful of times.

Also clean title no lien and carfax checks out.

Look and hear for everything. I have a 2007 350Z Touring, Auto, I've had it over 3 years. I bought it with 23K, now I have just over 40K. It's strong and fun to drive. Does great in the Mountains where I love to drive. Something you may want to know. My cooling fans went out and Nissan change the fans at no charge do to a recall on the fans. I was told by Nissan since my Z was under 60K and 5 years old they would change at no charge. You might want to check if it had a cooling fan change. Mine went out at about 27K. Other then the fans I have not had any problems with the car. I'm glad I bought mine and have no plans to sell.

I've had my z for 20k miles and only thing to replace is the window motor.

These are well built cars. Keep up with oil changes though.

first thing you should tell them is if they changed the clutch master cylinder because there was a recall on the 07s manual transmission i just changed mine out because in hot weather the clutch is not going to spring back out after you press it ... good luck

Yea this was already taken care of. The vin on this car was right in the middle of the recalled vins.

Sounds like a no brainer then, as long as you are getting a reasonable price.

Buy it. The 68 year old probably didn't drive it very hard and probably always garaged kept. Probably his weekend car because of the low mileage. I doubt you are going to find anything wrong with the car. I would buy this car if I was in your position. Get exhaust setup along with air intake then tune.
