Goodbye My350Z.COM!! Totaled The Z
Today I totaled the Z. I am very fortunate in that I literally walked away without a scratch (but with some muscle soreness for sure).

Long story short I ran into a stationary object with no time to apply brakes. I estimate my speed was in the 40 - 45 range.
So, if you were on the Southbound 405 just north of the 710 interchange just after 1:00 PM today, I was the a$$hole who created a traffic jam. My apologies.
Luckily, no one was hurt. Special mention goes out to whoever decided tractor trailer liability bars were a good idea. Had that bar not been there I think it would have been lights out for me.
This forum has been very informative and fun since I got the Z back in August of 2005 and I appreciate all the contributions I've learned from.
I will not be replacing this Z with another one. Rather, I'm moving on to something a little more sedate and more supportive of my situation as a home owner, a bit older and possessing somewhat different values than when I first drove it.
I don't expect I will be parting this out as it's pretty old, the front is gone and I don't have the time to mess with it. I'll be pulling the sound system but all that will go up on Craig's List.
Therefore I bid you all adieu.
Accidents happen all the time, try to appreciate those close to you in the moment. Tell them specifically why they are of value to you. If you can't, no problem, a bear hug "just because" works wonders.

Glad you're ok, but what exactly happened? I'm bored at work and need something to read!!!!!
What car are you moving to? Family hauler or just something more practical like Evo, STi, etc?

Stories like this are why I can't bring myself to replace my steering wheel. I like reading about people walking away from accidents in the Z. Glad you are okay OP. Good luck.
Ouch, methinks you're going to have really sore and stiff shoulders and neck for the next few days. Glad to hear that you came out of it OK, shame you're not replacing it with a newer 350 or even a 370.

I'm convinced the guy who invented that underride bar was merely putting a step in place for guys to get up into the trailer, then serendipitously discovered its usefulness in auto collisions after the fact.

Yet there is a sticker on every trailer saying, "This is not a step"..........

Sorry to hear about your shunt. It's worth knowing that your Z gave up its useful life to save yours in this accident. Understandable that you want to move on afterwards, but the memories you made with your Z car are priceless. Good luck!
21 year old daughter of a local TV sports anchor was killed in such a crash month or two back. Driving a Honda I believe. They blamed distracted driving - duh - but no evidence of texting or anything. Full speed into a stopped truck on the outerbelt. OP is one lucky dude....
Glad OP is responsible enough not to make up some lame story avoiding accountability. Sorry about your luck, hope that's you're last accident.
