OH wow I never saw that AWD z before!

I love RWD it's so much fun. But in winter it's hard as hell to drive especially since the z has 287 hp. Coming from a FWD toyota and never experiencing torque, I did and always have a smile on my face.

I hate driving my beater because it's old and not as nice as the Z.

AWD (done right) provides better handling and acceleration.

I agree that RWD can be more fun, but that is because it provides a little more uncertainty.

For a good comparison of performance between AWD and RWD, read the history of INDY cars and Formula cars.

.. you realize the 350z is far from a light car and weighs comparatively to the evo, sti and the likes? heh. yeah, the AWD drive train is heavier than a RWD drive train .. but overall, if weight was your concern, you are driving an interesting car. z's are pigs for how small they are.

LOL! This thread makes me think of those Lamborghini owners who spend gobs of cash to convert their cars to rear wheel drive because it's more fun and helps the cars go faster. It's hard to be "one with the car" when the AWD computers are making all the important decisions for you.

Yes, because we all drive like its the WRC everyday.

OP just get some winter tires. Rotate between the beater and the Z, preferably using the beater on really really bad days.

I would leave the Z the way it is. Then again I drive an STi in snowy weather so winter is pretty fun.

i managed just fine when I lived in jersey i got stuck in that noreaster a week after sandy with summer tires... It took me 2 hours to make a 40 minute drive and made me go about 25 miles out of the way but i made it..

couldn't get up my street though, ended up parking at a gas station half a mile away and hoofed it.
