An easier solution would just be to not buy one, if you're really that scared. In fact, that's what I recommend for you.
Honestly, I'm getting tired of reading the same inquiry over and over and over and over again. Seriously, if you're asking for reassurance from total strangers, exactly how comfortable are you going to feel regardless of what we tell you? Plus, there's this thing called 'forum search' - look into it.

Honestly, from what I've seen the problems are mostly limited to the MY2003 Z's. Though I've only had my 2004 about a month now, after 2000 miles it's been rock solid.
In any case, the Z is under warranty so if you have any issues they'll be taken care of without charge.

Problems are rampant? Considering how I lurk these boards I really have heard any problems on the 2004s. If you want to talk about cars that have problems go look at the RX8. Over 20 members on rx8forum.com have had to have their engines replaced completely already.
To my knowledge the only major problem the Z had was the tranny in the 2003s. So far I don't think I've read any problems with that in the 2004s.
But everyone is right, go buy a civic. You can almost bet you'll have 0 problems with that car.

nyfm, please don't purchase the 350z. It's too much for you, trust me. You need to go buy a nice used ford aspire. That sounds like your kind of car. Actually, if car problems scare you that much, get a segway. Scratch that, I heard they have malfunctioned also (they did a bunch of recalls). If walking isn't too scary, I highly recommend you walk.

The only two major issues I've seen are the tire feathering and the early transmission problems. All the rest of the stuff is minor to me.
I think the transmission problems are probably early builds, and that leaves the feathering on the 2003s as the only thing still questionable. I don't know if 2004s have the tire issues with the new suspension, but we should know shortly as those start to get some miles on them.
I'm sorry, but grease on the windows is an extremely minor issue to me (my last car and truck also did this, and I never thought twice about it).
Any car board you go to will find people griping about stuff. That is what the forums are for. People don't come to forums and argue about what HASN'T broken.
