I digress. Didn't mean to start a DE vs HR thread again

I think either one you get is good. As long as it's not automatic...

Having ran the snot out of both for a few years each, I noticed a difference, but usually its better to gauge when heading against another car. It's the difference between losing to a STI and beating a STI. If your modding then the 4k is worth it considering the ceiling for both.

You love your car, that's what matters.
I test drove the loss out of both lol. But perhaps my butt dyno was off.

It's true to say the hr is much better for mods. More responsive. Plus it comes with the updated transmission which is a minor plus. Then you get the better wheels, lights and interior. I feel like the older de is less predictable and a bit more fun.

What I have not seen here is the distinction of the 2004.5 here you will get a lower price because it's technically a 2004, but won't have tire feathering issues and a slightly stiffer suspension.

I might have recalled reading somewhere that I better be prepared to spend money if I go with the HR...... Is this true?

Yeah, but that's automatically taken care by Nissan. No matter the mileage or year. And I would think every HR has had it done by now if it was faulty. Those things were so awful they'd quit after 10k miles. I think mine was in the first year of ownership.

I purchased my Z at 99k miles, I would recommend going to the dealership and test drive a brand new 370z and or a 350z with extremely low miles.

Than, go test drive and press all the gadgets on a high mileage 350z. You will notice a difference in ride quality, certain things might not work for instance the trunk might not pop up properly,

So you can write these things down and have the seller lower the price and say something like this, i noticed this does not work i need to get this fixed, lower the price XXX$ please.

That would be a good way to do it because your comparing a high mileage 350z to a really low mileage 350z or brand new 370z.

Own a new '04 6 speed and besides worn seats and window motor shot (replaced for their buck) never had an issue with it...
