Ouch, I feel the pain man. Good luck with the repairs. I hope the car that hit your Z isn't giving you too much trouble.

Just a tip: If you feel like your e-brake's handle throws are getting long. It's a very quick and easy process to tighten up the drum pads in the rear hubs. Literally just takes a few minutes once the wheels are off.

With the wheel jacked up and the wheel off the car, pop off the rubber cover in the rear rotor hub to expose the drum adjustment point. The professionals use a funky looking tool to tighten this component, but I imagine it's still possible with a screw driver. Tighten that bit until the wheels locks, then loosen it until you feel the wheel freely rotate. Do this on both rear wheels. I actually did a quick search, and sure enough there's a post on this already, see below:
http://www.**********.com/forums/123...t-e-brake.html

Of course this method is really only good if your e-brake pads still have good meat on them. If they are bare, then you best replace them. I've had this done my Z more than once and it really makes a difference.

Buy one of these for your rebuilt too. An alternative to leaving in gear until some random kid decides to **** with you.

Thank you guys, the cars on the way to a shop to straighten out the two main rails,
and probably put together most of the parts, since he insisted he could get the parts cheaper. Think im looking at around 2000.

Ok, maybe someone will agree with me on this. The kid can't afford full coverage, but has a BBK, aftermarket hood, aftermarket wheels, and who knows what else... Maybe if you kept your z stock, you could put that money from your upgrades towards full coverage... No sympathy here... Hope you learned your lesson.

Exactly what I though when I first read the thread, then I thought maybe the car came with the mods when he bought it.

In the trunk right side foam there is a spot for a chock , the JDM cars should come with it. I remember all my cars in Japan had chocks mounted with the spare and jack.

Hell no. i would rather keep the money and buy parts than give that money to the insurance people, and just have a stock ride. OP next time, get rid of the auto start, the car warms up quick when your driving. Put that ***** in gear even if its ont on a hill, just get in a habit of doing that. Good luck with the fix.

Full coverage may be a waste of money, but when you have an accident that is your fault, full coverage seems pretty cheap.

I think you will be at least double that.
Just the parts are going to come close to $2K, unless you use economy pattern parts all the way, in which case you might as well sell the car when you are finished.

I'm more inclined to park in gear than to park with the ebrake. Sometimes on most level ground I'll just use the gear.

Lesson learned I guess. Not using both on an incline is apesh1t!

I know remote start is a convenience. But it's just plain dangerous in a MT. Either way, lesson learned. Good luck with the part out and I'm sorry for your misfortune...
