Default Power question?

Ok so I've never driven another z besides mine and I'm not sure what to expect power wise. It's a stock 04 base. Some people on here talk like their cars will just jump sideways and start smoking the tires and first and second without popping the clutch. Am I suppose to expect that or no? If so if I just floor it from a low rpm in first it just goes without any spin. And second hardly ever spins just chirps if I get it just right. First will spin without dropping if I'm already at 4k or higher.

(After my question is answered a mod or whoever can delete this)

If this has already been answered or clarified in anyway, sorry and point me in the right direction. Already did a few searches, came up empty handed.

my question is why are you trying to spin tires and make your car go sideways?

Well I'm not really, it's just bugged me for awhile. It's more of a curiosity question than anything.

well...it comes down to power...your gearing....you diff type...lots.
i had a friend with a stock hr, it was nice. not a fire breathing beast like people make it around here, but the higher you went in rpm the more power it made. now whenever you launched it you get some wheel spin and skirt with it but no mind blowing ...blowingness.
my z... first gear launch is somewhat just nasty, when i was sc first gear was pointless.

Isn’t Shawn correct? I don’t believe the Base model was available with an AT.

Bloody hate those side ways driving Z's... take up far too much room on the freeway and gas mileage is terrible!!

On the 03's the only models with an at where the touring. That changed in later years. Then you could get a base with an auto. Note autos without cruise control. I'll not the technically only tourings came with auto...but it does seem it was an option or somehow bases ended up with at. If you look at enough forsake z's you'll see a base auto.
Had to look that up! Shame on us all for not knowing all years and trim packages of z's!

no shanwnz your right. base= stick 99% or close too the time. i wouldnt have know there was base auto z's if i didnt go z hunting with a buddy and we came across some auto bases. idk where they came from or if it was vin#1 t kinda thing.
but op, a mean first gear with extra power make the z nasty. id say test pipes, and a im spacer made me really go something was different. i kinda did my z backwards.
i started with an intake...the im spacer...had test pipes i never put on. then a budy took a hammer to my im(dont ask) so i ended up with a v+, bought an exhuast i never put on i ended up selling, then put the test pipes, then nismo s tune. and some othere stuff in between im omitting the sc times..... but i feel like the best bang for your buck is the im spacer and test pipes...then intake...and then a clean exhaaaaaaaast and you got a nice z!

what where we talking about?
