Just back from service .. have questions..
I took my Z in for an oil change. I usually do it myself, but it's too cold. I asked for synth oil but the serv mgr advised against it. He said I should wait until ~25-30k miles to allow for proper engine break-in. Is this true?
Also, while I was there I had them perform the TSB for tire feathering. No questions asked, he called NNA for authorization to put on new tires. They agreed, which is cool. He said they will adjust the toe-in so that it doesn't happen again. Does this actually solve the problem? Are they able to adjust it that much?
He said that in March, NNA will be taking action that "will exceed Z owner's expectations" regarding tire feathering, but didn't know what it was. Any ideas?

Did you ask the dealer what "will exceed Z owner's expectations" MIGHT speculatively mean? With such a statement, I figure that they would be precisely the people to ask for any type of supposition.
When I took my Z in for its first oil change at 3k, I brought my own oil--Mobil 1 Syn 10W30 (5 qts). The service manager asked what kind of oil I brought and his words were "nice choice, that's the best oil" after I replied. Some say to switch to full syn after 3k, others say after 10k, and some even say you can do it right away because the engine is broken-in at the factory (I chose 3k because that was my first oil change).
I also talked to them about my car drifting to the right and they said they adjusted the toe. Now it drives in a straight line. I've only had good experiences with Nissan dealers thus far.

I too went with synthetic after 3000 miles...if you search the various threads in here you will find someone who will tell you just about anything you want to hear.
My two cents...3000 miles is sufficient break in period, I do all my own oil changes and use only Mobil 1 (redline in rear and trans).
Chevy ships Chorvetes from the factory with Mobil 1.
MOST IMPORTANTLY - Thank you for serving your country, I lost a brother in 1971...
Thanks,
Fritz
