Default Is there a T-Top or Targa Top 350Z coming?

Anyone here anything about that? I want to get a coupe (don't like rag tops), but I need to be able to take of that top somehow. I don't want to do anything like that "after market". I have heard to many bad stories with regards to cutting tops.

That is pretty much the only thing I am waiting on...

I really don't like the convertible. I mean, there was a T-Top on the 95'\96' models, right? So a t-top on the 350z is not that far out of bounds...

no there will be no t-top option in the next two model years. beyond that there have been no releases saying this would or wouldn't happen. however, with the convertible it is unlikely that they will pursue this, since the current two models are selling well (in relation to production numbers on the vert)

nissan had given the slope of the roof as a reason that it couldnt be made into a targa or Ttop.

whether or not this is true, doesnt really matter, they wont be doing it.

Thanks for the responses.

Wow. That really sucks! I love the car, but I can't imagine not even having so much as a moon roof or anything! There is nothing like opening up the roof while you drive on a warm summer night. I have some more thinking to do before I buy this car.

Don't you guys feel a little "cut off" in there with out some sort of opening?

I may have to see what kinds of options are on the new Supra...

I love sunroofs/moonroofs, and I had a hookup on aftermarket ones when I first got the Z, but... Well, lesse, it's supposed to be a sports car, and someone cutting a whole in the roof and taking away from structural rigidity while adding weight seemed wrong. I feel bad enough putting a sub in and adding the weight!

I hear ya. But I guess I just kinda want it all. I want the speed and power. But you've got to admit There is nothing like feeling part of the world when you drive down the road. I've got a 98' Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T now, with a moon-roof. I love it. I swear in the summer, I don't close it unless it is raining or it is parked for the night.

Maybe I will wait on the new C6 vette. Chevy doesn't have a problem adding Ttops.

BTW- Dissident, Nice bike. R1? Is that u? I have a 2000 R6.

Default Ttop

Do a search. One member had American Sunroof in LA do a custom for him. He was pretty pleased with it.

I have been saying the same thing for a while now. The only reservation I have about getting the Z is the lack of sunroof or t-tops. Didn't nissan offer the 300 with t-tops and as a convertible at the same time? Would t-tops really cut into the roadster sales?

Yeah, it's an R1, but no that's not me in the pis

The other thing I don't like about the roof on the 350 is that it's the type that slides up and out, rather than back into the roof (for obvious reasons). Hate the look if it, kinda like the Celica roof. Ugh.

I ferget, can you get a roof on the g35 coupe?

Yes, its standard, I believe. I have to say I've had all the convertibles t-tops, sunroofs, moonroofs I care to have. I'm tall and all they do for me is rob me of headroom. I LIKE the solid roof, and it was solid on the my original 1972 240Z. My wife's new 04 TL has a moonroof, but its taller than its predecessor and it doesn't bother me. I could not drive the 03 Type-S, the last Prelude, and serveral other cars I would have enjoyed owning.

Nissan was quoted several times saying the Roadster was being developed for that purpose and there were no plans to have any sort of roof opening for the coupe.

Yeah. Thanks guys. I may look into the G35. I know they are basically the same car, but something about the G35 doesn't do it for me. It looks a little too "refined". But it is an option.

Toyota recently announced there won't be a new Supra. They decided the sports car market was too 'fickle'. go figure. lol.

After owning a car with a moonroof that I never shut, I swore I would never own a car without one again. After a couple of weeks with the Z though, I no longer noticed that I didn't have one. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy opening them up in other people's cars, but the Z more than makes up for it.

The G35 doesn't do it for me either. But that's because it's based on that ugly new Skyline. Hopefully the 07s will look more like the older Skylines [R34 *drool*], but I doubt it.
