Default 1/4-mile time in MT

So I finally broke down and read a copy of the latest Motor Trend. Wasn't happy that the RX-8 won, but oh well. I did note that in the back, though, under stats for different models, the 350Z Touring that they got back in 09/02 actually pulled a 13.9 in the quarter mile. Neat!

They got a 13.77 in the article you are referring to, though

Very nice...I think someone here pulled a 13.8 stock, so the range sounds about right.

Wooh Hoo!

You know I was thinking it could be due to the fact that they tested the track model this time instead of a touring??? Less mass in the track wheels. No power seat motors, no blose stereo, no heated seats, which add additional weight.

I pulled a 13.77 @ 101.4 back in April when I got it. I had a K&N drop in at the time, but I ran with a mean headwind if it counts for anything I have a Track BTW...

Doubt it, track models have been tested in the 14s before

No, no, I mean the chart they had in the back with stats for a whole bunch of different cars. Under Nissan, 350Z, they had a Touring that they got in 09/02, and an Enthusiast they got in 01/03. The Touring blew the pants off the Enthusiast. Methinks it may have something to do with the fact that they've had it longer, so have gotten used to its quirks.

nah, i thinks its was the fact that the two cars were tested on different days, different drivers, different weather, etc...

yup, its damn near impossible to pin a car down on a specific performance time. its a range, could be as good as... but 99% of us will never get that time except by luck.

mag times mean oh so little.

myself Im very suprised they got a 13.77, they had to have done the test in the winter, cold temps, stock tires. Id have expected higher.

See this is what I could never figure out. I drive an S2000, I was pulling 13.9 all day stock, on the street. I now am running in the low 13's with mods, but even at that, from a roll, I lose badly at any speed above 50. I will say this though, I have raced a few 350's, and it is a drivers race for sure, on a 1/4 mile basis. Anything longer than that, and you all would catch up and pass me hands down.
