I love the car and ive always owned hondas so my main concern was always wheels tires accessories etc. But now my new mindset is all HP gains. I've been looking at exhaust/intake/tuning etc as well as pricing. My goals arent super high i just want the most out of my car street driven that i can get without risking damage to it. I was reading about getting work done to fuel system as far as increasing it and etc. So basically what im wondering is what should i go with first? These will be the first mods ive done to the car other than the stock airbox with a k&n air filter. ANY advice you guys have im open to. Thanks again for reading and i Appreciate it

want my advice? LS1 Stock Engine + t56 + supercharger. end of story.

vq engine - 450 whp rods are gone........need to rebuild engine for more whp. not worth it.

dont waste your time on the vq engine. its either go big or stay stock

need at minimum 700 whp/700 tq to remotely get aroused.

Lots of good suggestions in here. Thanks. I recently got a z and almost purchased a new intake before I even got the car. Luckily I started trolling this forum and found out it would likely only be a sound mod. Ill be keeping my z mostly stock and probably just do the mod by necessity. I did change out the entire bose stereo in the first month though because my cd player skipped like a champ. And playing mp3's through the tape deck made me think it was the 90's when hooking your portable cd player through the tape deck was semi acceptable... So I guess thats my suggestion. Swap out that garbage factory stereo and enjoy your new to you car.

On a side note just remember when you owned your honda how you probably always wanted it to be a 2 seater and you probably always wanted it to be rear wheel drive. But all you could really do is throw parts at it to make it a little faster, and probably would have been happy to have 200 reliable daily drivable hp. Now you have all that and dont need to change a thing.. Thats my thought anyways. I had a rsx-s for 6 years and I wont say it was a bad car but it was modified (like every other one) and my stock Z is just everything I ever wanted in that acura and more.

Ok I think im starting a book so ill stop.. Good luck with whatever you decide.

What about playing actual tapes through the tape deck?

So I forgot to mention the dealership I bought the car from replaced the transmission before I bought it. do you think I should still replace the transmission fluid or should I skip this to save some money? Really not a big deal either way to me if I buy the stuff to replace it anyway.

Any idea on when they replaced it? Could have been 100k miles ago (mine was replaced with about 45k on the clock.

Lots of good info here OP, you get the idea, Maintenance is key and so is seat time. Z1NONLY destroyed me at the tail of the dragon because he's a great driver.

Also check out zdayz, it's coming up and unless you're in west TN, it's an easy drive.

OP, I'm not sure what the "scene" is like in Tennessee, but I did 90% of my mods in California where mods, new and used were plentiful. I bought great deals for used parts and that took my build in an odd direction. I don't regret it as I get compliments all the time, but think about what future you will want and if something bothers you, focus on that. I basically went: (came with pop chargers) exhaust, spacers, front bumper, Varrstoen wheels, springs, camber gear, different front bumper, Volk GTS wheels, sway bars, audio, removed audio, full INGS/VIS kit, lightweight RPF1 wheels, diff bushings, coilovers.

If I could start over: sway bars, coilovers/camber gear, differential/gears-4.08/bushings, wheels --misc.

I skimped on extra care for body panels and ended up with a super bright white front bumper right before I moved from SoCal and the paint guy could fix it. Not REALLY noticeable, but it bothers me.

I just went to the strip for the 2nd time in owning the car for 5 years and started at 15.481 in an HR..... In under 5 passes I'm down to 13.995 on Hankook V12 tires. I plan to hit up a road course (3rd time on a road course ever) this weekend and while AutoX wasn't that fun (here in iowa) I was glad I got to drive my car aggressively since there are no twisties in Iowa.

Here's my car for reference (in chronological order excluding stock wheel set up):

well the dealership had the car for less than 2 weeks before I snatched it up and they said they replaced it when they got it with one that had less than 100k miles on it.

If they put a used tranny in there with 99,999 miles on it I would do the tranny fluid too.

I'm in IOWA. There HAS to be some kind of scene in Tennessee compared to here. There was open Test and Tune at the local drag strip (since there's no shortage of flat land here) and an autoX event the size of a stamp. I'm planning a 4 hour (one way) trip to the "local" road course this Saturday. Gotta get out and look!

I went to a 1/4 mile event last year and my Z ended up all over a facebook page called Iowa Petrolheads and Car Spotters. This led me to NICI (Nissan/Infiniti Club of Iowa) and a couple good meets. All a "scene" takes is one pushy friend (used to be me in California) to organize meets and make sure a core group always shows up. I cross posted into zilvia, RX8 forum, G forums, 370 board, and Evo forum. I ended up with 40+ cars going on my "going away" cruise in Cali. Twas fun until my buddy rolled his RX8.

The scene here is lame right now since it's mostly "sport bike season" or stupid stock lifted trucks trying to race. Or, people completely rebuilding their cars.

I can't WAIT to move to Kansas City. I don't expect it to mountain roads and canyons like Cali, but it will be closer to windy roads and I'm all about spirited driving-safely

It just takes effort.

budget - cheapest 5/16 spacer, cheapest test pipes/y pipe
don't bother with header as labor is intensive or expensive and hopefully get tuned with uprev or whatever

find a 370z or g35/g37 pumpkin with a diff that has less miles and the 3.6 final drive. increased acceleration and newer diff for CHEAP

get the suspension bushings before your suspension, and change them out at the same time.

I highly recommend 0w40 mobil oil as it's easily available at walmart. it's a thin 40/thick 30 wt oil. great results in our cars.
