I live in Boston, MA and don't have a garage. It's almost impossible to not get nics with the idiot drivers that park by "feel". And I guess my chances of getting it ripped off go waaaay up.
Am I nuts to buy a car like this and park it on the street? anyone else in this situation?

Pat,
Well I don't have my Z yet but I'm always in Boston. Depends on if you're parking in a residential area or what? Where do you live? There are parts of Boston I def would not leave a Z parked on a street. Newbury Street is different then Dorchester ya know ;-)

Geez, I'm scared to park my Z at the secured garage at work. I did a little "social experiement" today. I parked the Z in front of an Au Bon Pain near Yale and went in to have a coffee and read the paper. In the 20 minutes I sat there, 5 different people came up to peek in the windows. One guy took pictures, so of course I had to take a picture of him.
It's kind of a bad pic.
I'd be pretty worried parking it on the street. Heck, I don't even really like parking my current car on the street, and it's pretty beat up already.

I'd be paranoid to park it in the street... after watching the video's of people going around neighborhoods bashing windows and stuff that is parked in the street.... scary stuff
I hope I get my house when I get my Z, then I'll be able to park my celica and my 350z in the garage!

I have a Audi A4 now and I mostly leave it at my office parking space (it's pretty well protected).

I wouldn't live it on the street (no matter how nice the area). Guys who steal nice car get them in nice areas. My brother had his car get hit (and run...) sitting right in front of his house. I never park on the street. I guess if my choices were to not have a Z or park on the street I'd be parking on the street..

dude.. don't even think about parking the Z on the street.. I mean just forget the bad people.. just what everyday people will do to see a 350z is enough reason not to leave the baby outside..
Let me tell you this.. you won't be able to sleep man..

I went to Wendy's for lunch today and I almost choked I was eating my burger so fast. When I finished, a crowd of kids was around the Z. Actually, they were pretty cool, asked lots of questions. I gave them a little tour of the car. I really don't think I'll be able to park this thing anywhere other than at home....
Please remember, the Z is meant to be a people's sports car, like the original 240Z.

In a parking lot you can straddle but on the street, you've got to put it at the curb.

I am not so worried about my car getting stolen as I am about it getting door dings. My last car was destroyed by them. No matter where I park, I always get some idiot that has to park right next to me.
Isn't it amazing how much peoples attention this car draws. I like it, but I also feel self concious when people do it. I want to be as accomodating to people as possible, so no matter how busy I am I always take the time to answer peoples questions. They are asking about my baby, and I appreciate their curiosity.

I live in Back Bay, and I'm paying $250/month for a garage spot for my Prelude -- and it's worth every penny.
Unfortunately, my small, high-tech company shares its parking lot with a number of lower-tech firms, including a Ryder truck rental. A couple years ago, some bozo in a Ryder truck backed into my previous car, an Eagle Talon, and left a football-sized dent in the rear fender -- and didn't even leave a note. (I only know it was a Ryder truck because someone else saw it bash into my car and then drive off.)
I was pissed. I can't imagine how pissed I would be if I bought a new Z and someone did that...
