I've been playing a game with my car to see if I can beat my highest mpg from the week before lol. 26 seems like the best I can get out of it.
According to the dash I get better mpg in 4th gear at 40mph than I do in 6th gear.

I tend to keep the engine at least at 2krpm so there is a little pulling power if needed and I never have to downshift for a hill.

The best MPG I have gotten is 32.5.

I swapped to Amsoil for the Trans and Diff and I do feel a smoother difference in the shifts. Its a bit quieter too....well at least it was until I added the poly trans mount

Holy crap, you beat my record, I thought 26 was the best anyone can get out if it. What do you think the percentage of street/highway driving you do? I tend to get stuck in traffic a lot which kills my mpg

I got 32.5 all highway. I filled up right at the on ramp and then stopped again at the off ramp by my house.

Daily driving I get about 20 because it's all in town and I like the loud pedal.

I find 1-2 a lot smoother than 2-1 for example.

2-1 is a trick. If you're going more than 2-4 mph you need to double clutch it. The faster you're going the more rev you need to give while in neutral.

That 1st gear lock out was weird for me at first. I just meant the shifter feel though was smoother from 1 into 2.

I just changed the transmission fluid with mt85 and drove for a few miles... WOW, smooth like butter . Shifting was never too notchy or rough but after seeing the old fluid i'm amazed lol

I drive a Z.

What is this "mpg" figure y'all are throwing around?

Excuse if this has been asked before.

Please don't tell me you thought I was serious. Please?

If i remember correctly, 06+ 350z's all use the same cd009 trans. And it is notchiest from 1st to second. Either shift at higher rpm, shift slower and smoother, or just throw it into place. Its all good. There are waaaay notchier transmissions out there.

Sometimes same thing happens to me too, but not so much 2nd gear but 3rd. And mine is an 06. The shifting feels a little different than my Spec, not in a bad way, it feels like I should be shifting a little bit faster in my Z than my Spec

I feel the 350z has the most unforgiving transmission ever, but also the most rewarding. I notice that this car just screams back at you if you are not on point with your shifting almost reminding you like its a beast that needs to be tamed. Even the slightest hint of jerkiness can be felt if you are off just a couple hundred revs before coming off the clutch. The shifting just requires so much finesse and accuracy unlike your typical 4-banger commuter.

Really? You guys! Maybe an automatic is more for you. Now my 1969 corvette 4speed is a bit tough to shift sometimes. These z cars are ez. Stop the whining! 😜
