Default NNA giving new tires,

I just had my two front tires replaced by Nissan due to the tire feathering issue, well now I have another problem, the stupid dealer scraped up my two front rims, holy shiet it never ends!!!! I was soooooo pizzed off. I complained to the service manager and he basically denied it but I made sure that he was not going to forget about this one. I called NNA made a huge azz complaint against this delaership and stated that the service manager always gives me a hard time when I come in for service, man Nissan service sukz!!!!! They treat every car like a Sentra. Im never going to this delaership again. I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone who had there tires swapped or changed.... Well NNA said that they will call me tommorrow, I told them that someone better pay for two new Rims. Man Im getting sick of all of this,

Dealer scraped all four of mine when I had them put my S-03 on. They owned up to it and did the right thing. 4 new rims.

I have to agree, from past other brand ownership experience, Nissan is not hiring the cream of the crop. And their business approach is terrible. Customer satisfaction must not be a part of their program.

You know the real problem is that the dealers don't have the right equipment to handle the larger rims so they end up scraping the crap out of them trying to get the tires on and off.

I had my front tires replaced. I got the dealer to give me S03's as a warranty replacement. They scratched my rims up and got me new ones. The second time they mounted my S03's (on the NEW rims) they took the wheels and tires to the BMW dealership.

I have had a few MINOR problems with my Z, but my dealer has be EXCELLENT. Rothrock Nissan in Allentown, PA has never given me ANY hassles and eagerly resolved all my issues.

BTW, I know have 10,000 miles on the S03's and the feathering has not returned after they did the alignment and put the new tires on. (My original RE040's were toast at 5000.)

Nissan did the tire swap on mine due to the "feathering" issue. The dealer scratched the outer part of my rims and also the holes where the lugs are. It took at least 3 calls to NNA and 2 trips to the dealer to get them to repaint them for me. I wasn't happy with the decision but it was better than nothing.

Same thing here, I had feathering and got 2 new fronts, and in the process, they scratched the hell out of both front rims. I complained, they denied, but I insisted they did it, and finally said they would repair both rims (not replace). They are not that bad, just scratched around the outside rim area that is closest to the tires outer treadwall. They must use a tire iron or something in ther eto pry, but they wouldn't tell me. They told me all of their tire tools are rubber coated, but nevertheless, it still happened.

I personaly think the finish on these rims is horrible. They are obviously just painted, and painted with the same crappy paint they use on the finish of our cars. The paint doesn't hold up at all. The only stories I have heard where people got the tires repalced and remounted, without sustaining rim damage were from shops that have the touchless system--I guess an electronic system that does all of hte work.... no human internvention required. Apparently these machine are around $10k and very few shops have them...but if you call ahead, they will tell you. I htink they would rather be up front about having the proper equipment then having an irate customer complaining about severe rim damage. I called a few shops in my area here in central PA and only 1 shop had the touchless system.

Anyways, I hope the track rims are more resilient... i have a set on the way now. I know they are forged, which means lighter and stornger, but if the finish is the same as the stock Touring rims, I will have the same trouble if I go to just any shop...a very frustrating situation.

Default Make them replace the wheels

Took mine in for the feathering and window streak TSB's at 4,000 miles and the dealer scraped both front rims. They wanted to paint them, but metal damage had actually been done. When I protested to the painting proposal, they immediately agreed to replace both rims. They had the new wheel machine to use, but were missing one plastic part and tried to do it without it.

Unfortunately, when they put the new rims on and I left the dealership, I noticed that one of the TPM's quit working. Apparently they've now damaged the TPM and will have to break down the wheel yet a third time. Go figure.

Make them replace the wheels if it's not something that can easily be touched up with paint. Either that, or ask them if it is OK to go to their car and scrape up two of their rims and then just paint over it. If they don't want you to do that, then why would it be OK for them to do it to you? They weren't messed up when you took them to the "experts". The "experts" should be able to do the job right.

Been there done that. The dealer has had my car since January 31st and still has not fixed my rims to dealer specs. I am to the point where if they do not give me new rims to go with my new tires they can have the damn car back. They have had my car more than I have. I am so fed up with them. It should not be that hard to put a tire on a rim without screwing it up

I have had quite a similar adventure with my Z; check the thread under my screen name in the section on tires and wheels from last week. I am currently waiting for the cash refund from the dealer, should have it within next two days or so. I sympathize with you completely.

If you are open to suggestion, do what I did....I went to both the Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct sites (www.tirerack.com and www.tires.com) and looked up recommended installers. I got one installer who was listed on both sites, and contacted him. Did a perfect job. I had to pay $100 to have the job done right, but I know the wheels are torqued to specs, and not a scratch or even a fingerprint on the wheels when they were done. It is a shame I had to pay for this, but my Nissan dealer is a union shop, and does not do tires, so they send their work out to the Firestone place across the street, which is the schlockhouse that was responsible in the first place for ruining my wheels. Worked for me, might work for you?
