Not sure what they are but they look like just a cosmetic thing. Kind of like fake air scoops?

I, personally, think they look dumb. Hell, you can see the actual bumper. Bumper covers were made because bumpers are UGLY

They're actually called exactly what you posted in your other thread...

I know you're new to the site, so some friendly advice: try searching before starting a new thread. It will save a lot of time and trouble in the future. The 'search' option is a good feature and will get you the answer much faster than starting a new thread on a topic that has already been discussed.

I know I am being an enabler and spoonfeeding the noob by posting this, but here goes:

Google works even better.

You can specify the site you want to search (add "site:my350z.com" - no quotes - to the end of your query) but 9x out of 10, if it's a 350Z related question, google will show results from this forum. This forum is LOADED with great info!

Don't know what to call 'em? Use Google Image Search. That works pretty well too.

Holes in a bumper that do nothing but disrupt aero despite spending thousands of dollars on a diffuser that also is not long enough to do anything?

GREAT suggestion, Trav! Seriously. I've long wondered about the relative effectiveness of all of these aftermarket diffusers and bumpers and whether or not they were actually - at least partly - designed with true aero, e.g., wind tunnel, considerations in mind.

My thoughts were about the disruption of underbody airflow management and creating air traps and turbulence. In essence, the parachute effect.

I drive a Nismo, with that gawdawful rear diffuser and "out there" wing but in my comparo (somewhere here on my350Z) between that car and my Enthusiast sans aero, I noted that the wind-tunnel (functional) design obviously outweighed the aesthetic (form) side of things because my Niz is worlds more stable than my Enthused '03 - Yamaha suspension not withstanding.

Anyway, thanks for directing me to some additional weekend reading intended to reinforce all of the Physics courses I took (despite being a biz major).

Cheers,

Mic

PS Of course, this doesn't answer the other question I have regarding the bumper vents.... does it actually help anything at speeds under 100? Guess it would if properly designed - so as to mitigate air traps under that bumper cover and work with that diffuser.
