Default Jerky Automatic?

I own a 2005 Touring Nissan 350z, 142,000 miles, and it's an automatic. I've only had the car for about 5 months but the previous owners (only had two) took very good care of it, and I got it tuned up before I got it.

Lately I've noticed when I'm driving, especially when breaking or coming to a stop, the car seems to be very jerky which is especially odd since it's an automatic. Anyone know what this might be?

The shakes, it comes with age. Nothing is tight anymore, mounts, bushings, gears, bolts, etc.

If the rear differential bushing is blown it can cause harsh shifts as the diff moves around. Also the transmission will downshift and do a bit of engine braking coming to a stop.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll try doing what I can in my garage but if it's still jerking I'll take it to a friend who's a mechanic. The best way to describe it is when you're braking or slowing down (sometimes even when just coasting in lower gears) it feels as if someone is kind of lightly pumping the breaks.

if diff bushing is blown, there is usually black goo running down from it onto the subframe

Sounds like ABS or traction control kicking in.

If its only happening once or twice while slowing down its probably just the transmission downshifting. If this is the case just shift it into neutral as your are coming to a stop and if the slight pulsing goes away it was the transmission.

That's just crazy talk! I love how it's assumed that everyone should have a 6 MT Z. I bought a 6MT first then got rid of it and bought a 5AT. My dd is manual. I bought the Z for weekend/ whenever I get enough time off work to drive it. I love the ease of just shifting into drive and moving on. I used the shiftable auto mode one time just to say I did. Is my auto Z any less fun to drive? Not at all. It's actually a little more relaxing.
