Question 2003 Nissan 350Z Daily Driver

Hello, I am new to the Z family and I getting an 04 350Z from my uncle. I currently drive an 03 BMW 325i. My question is: is it a good daily car (I'm only driving 10-15 miles Highway to school and taking it out for fun every other weekend.)(Also I'm 6 feet tall.) How much longer will it last? Will it fit a 3x2 ft. bag? How much maintenance will it require? Very sorry for so many questions, I'm new obviously.

Opinions might vary, but I think it's a perfectly fine daily car. There is plenty of room in it (for a 2 door sports car), and it's pretty comfortable. It shouldn't require any more maintenance than any other modern car. Aside from the expected bad gas mileage, it's perfectly fine.

Bag should fit in it fine too.

Bags should fit, as should you. I am 6'4 and fit perfectly. I wouldn't want to be any taller in that car though.

As for using it as a daily, as long as it's in good shape and taken care of it shouldn't be a problem. A lot of people daily a Z.

I have daily'd my 03 z for over 2 years now and it has never once left me stranded or broken down.

As far as space is concerned, it shouldn't be difficult that bag into the car. (The trunk is larger than most people expect).

And it will last a very long time when properly maintained

I daily mine to work and back around 35 miles round trip, rain or shine. It works perfect for my needs, and I rarely have passengers save for a quick bite out. I'm 6ft with shoes on

+1. Hopefully he isn't buying the car for the trunk room though.

Only time I was a little cramped- still made it work though

Been daily driving mine since 2005, haven't had any major issues yet other than average wear and tear.

It's a great daily!

My pops complains that you can't go grocery shopping with it, but you absolutely can. As everyone else said, the only concern you might have is trunk space if you have a passenger with you AND you guys are packing a lot of stuff. But for daily use, it's no problem.

Just maintain her!

It got my new coffee maker home. If you dont get snow I would say great daily driver. And maintenance will be more pleasant then your BMW.

Even if you get snow, still a great daily driver. Buy tires made for the snow and cold weather and the Z is pretty much unstoppable

I wouldn't say unstoppable, but I see your in PA so you should have some fair knowledge of snow. Here in Northern Va we realistically get maybe 7-8 snow days so driving a Z isn't too big of an issue. It's just infested with bad drivers around here is the issue.

Maybe with studded snows a lift kit and a mad max bumper. Also the windows are pretty pissed about being frozen... It's already August... Guess whats right around the corner.

Wish I had a garage.

First winter I had this car I drove it daily, and thats in Canada. Only problem I had was I had to back it out of a parking lot because it snowed to much. Then I bought sensible winter beater, a 1992 bmw 325is lol.

No studded tires for me. Ever winter before now I was lowered on nismo springs as well.

My driveway never gets plowed in the winter and its about a mile long, slightly up hill one way. At times we get over 6 inches of snow. My z has never hesitated.

Maybe mine just wants to be a snow-mobile?

Z's are perfectly fine for daily's. Keep up with the maintenance a long the way and you're good to go.

Geez it sounds like it, I can't imagine driving it in the snow in upstate. Do you plow snow with it

Welcome.
They make excellent daily drivers, I've driven mine daily since I bought it in '04, the past two years I've put 24,000 miles/year on it and it's been fine, 11 years and zero problems.
