350Z Track Wheels
Can anyone tell me if the wheels are powdercoated or if they are painted. I have Discount Tire saying they are powdercoated and Bankston Nissan in Irving saying they are painted and clearcoated. Both of them have scratched my rims and that is why I am asking. Thanks

not too big of a deal mine were scratched too i had a guy refinish them with an airbrush like tool. i got the paint from an authorized nissan body shop and you cannot tell they were ever scratched. and thats coming from me some one who is obssevie amount every detail
as long as you get the right paint you will be fine

The dealer painted them but has orange peel like paint on one wheel and drip marks on the other wheel. Discount tire said they powdercoated the one wheel they had. I can't see Discount Tires job until Saturday but I am going to go tonight and see if the dealer fixed the "paint" on the other two wheels....
What I would like to have happen is to have the dealer replace the 2 wheels they messed up. Not sure if that will happen but I just don't see at this point how they can fix all the damage they did. You would think that it would not be that hard to put a tire on a rim without scratching it. I wonder how it ever came from the factory at this point.

here is my horror story
i had the dealer switch out my touring rims for some tracks i got off ebay since they were replacing my tires anyway.
ok the dealer scratched all 4 touring rims getting them off and all 4 track rims putting them on. then they nicked all 4 track rims again with their alignment machine
so they managed to screw up all 8 wheels at one time.
it ended up costing them $500 to fix
but could you imagine what i felt when i saw the damage on the track wheels after i was so excited to get them on. then after i got home i looked at the tourings and they were scratched to hell!!!

That sucks!!! Sorry to hear that! Well all of this started about mid December. I of course had the tire feathering just like everyone else. Took my car in they switched the wheels which did not help. Compained to NNA got the ok for the new tires. Took my car back in got new tires and when I got the car home noticed that I had a nail in one of the back tires and a screw in the other back tire. So after about 3 weeks with my car on jack stands and all the humin and haain I finally got a decent quote for some new tires from discount tire after going to the dealer and Firestone etc....They could fix one tire but not both so I wanted 2 new ones to go with the other new ones. I wanted the same kind but it would be a 60 day wait from Firestone and the dealer had them for almost 1k. So needless to say I got other ones from Discount tire. Took them down there at 8am on Sat to have them ready in an hour. Went back at 3pm and Discount tire had put them on the done rack when they were not done, so they hurried to put them on and screwed one rim up in the process. Said the would fix it and my tire sat there for a week before I called them and asked them what was up. Apparently the guy who said he would have it fixed moved to another store so my tire sat there all week. The new managers assures me that it is now fixed but I can't make it down there until Saturday. The dealer is a whole other story, we will see tonight if they got it right this time....
Wait...
You had your tires switched at the dealer, and then found a nail in one and a screw in the other? And now you're paying for new tires??
You're absolutely sure the nail and screw weren't there when you picked them up right?

had a similar problem with my tire feather problem.
The dealer scratched the lip on both front TRACK rims.
I would have taken the matter a little better had the dealer owned up to it when I went to pick up th car.
They decided to wait and see if I would not notice.
The service manager came out with me to look at the damage and admitted he was aware of the problem.
Real nice. Wait till I leave and them blame me if I tried to return and complain.
Their excuse was that the rims are difficicult to work with and damage is unavoidable. How did they get the tires on the rims at the factory without damage? Hummmmmm....
I agreed to have the rims repaired. They are acceptable, but not PERFECT, as they were before I had the TSB done.
I'm very disappointed in the service I received and made NISSAN aware when I filled out the last questionaire.

I would demand new ones! This is not your fault. This is their problem and they should correct it the right way. The dealership was in a hurry to get it done and move along to the next car. They probalby figured "who is going to look at their wheels? Well us car buffs are!!!!! If this was me
I would call NNA complain also be willing to accept that the dealer can fix it---ask for Wheel Worx-- my wife hit the curb after a week of owning her 2002 maxima gle and wheelworx did a superb job. We just dropped the car off at the dealer and they were returned in 24 hours!

Well I went to the dealer and of course they were still screwed up so yes I did demand new rims and they said they would order them. That was a week ago and I have not heard a word. Went down to Discount Tire and they had my rim but no center cap or air pressure cap, they did give me 4 new ones that don't match the original caps though
So I have to go back to Discount Tire next Saturday to get the center cap. They said they bought a new rim but it does not look new to me and I have nothing to compare it to since my car is still at the dealership (18 days and counting). I have e-mail NNA called NNA left VM everywhere and have not heard anything from anyone.
Oh and I have never had my car back within 24 hours from this dealer, they have always had my car at least 3 days or more every time they have had it.
