Default Sold the Z after 7 years

After 7 years of ownership it was time to let her go. The car just wasn't doing it for me anymore. The interior drove me nuts. It was an 2004.5 with 55,000 miles

I think in going to look for a e92 m3

We all have different reasons for owning the Z33. Seems like you were ready to move on and good luck on your next car. After 13 years and 95K with my pre-order track model, I can't imagine actually going through with a sale. There's too many great memories that go along with this car. Even more, this Z reflects my tastes in what I value in a sportscar. Even the Spartan interior (clean, but not shabby) says something about valuing performance over luxury and the latest electronic options.

Unlike many of the posts on this board, I've had few problems with my Z. It's been extremely reliable and relatively easy to maintain. My passion for the Z still burns bright even as after test driving some of the latest and most advanced sportscars/coupes on the market today.

^ Ditto, I'm 10 years in owning the Z. It's good seeing another fellow 1 owner of this car. Despite all the newer cars coming out... the temptation is strong but my Z still gets compliment from anyone who appreciate sports cars. Granted, my car is not stock so it does not look outdated and I still love driving it.

GL on your M3 purchase!

It was a great car never had many issues with it and I will miss it. I actually think it will be hard to find a car to replace it I say an m3 but after I test drive one who knows.

If you get into a bmw just realize the maintenance nightmares and the $1000 you will drop evertime you bring it in for service. They are sick cars and when all is good im sure they are loved by their owners but the money doesnt stop with the purchase price. The po of my z got a 335xi think he is happy with it his insurance rates almost doubled though haha. Good luck in whatever you get.

I wonder how many original owners still have their Z. My car was 12 years old on July 1, 2015 and I still love it. My feeling is there are very few original owners left.

Im sure your one of the few in the elite group of original owners. Im the 3rd owner of my z I have never owned a new car i wouldnt know how to act haha. Actually I would just be bummed about the depreciation, lucky for you as more of these cars get destroyed the value is probably only going to go up from here.

I do realize about the m3 having costly things about it. I do a lot of my own work plus I will prob have a hoist by then.

The other reasons I let the z good they are losing value here like crazy you can buy a z for 8000 cdn no problem not the best shape but not horrible either.

Selling a Z should be illegal. Kidding, best of luck with your next car!

I wonder how many original owners pre-ordered their Zs? I went to the GM of my local dealer and put down my deposit back in 2001. He said he hadn't heard anything about a VQ-powered Z being designed at that time. I told him: "You will".

I'm sure there are even fewer pre-order owners around.

They may have to bury me with mine. 10 years of [original] ownership and she's still running.

Yeah they are stupid cheap nowadays but no matter how low the Z depreciate, it won't change a thing on how I value my car. When people see my car, they know it has been taken care of all its life.

I didn't pre order mine but I drove her off the lot with six miles on the clock... now she's at 99k, really close to hitting the 100k milestone with ZERO problems and still on factory clutch!

Again GL on your car search OP.

Aw good luck with getting your new ride
I only had my Z since late May of this year, but it's been a car that I have been wanting for a long long time, while I was still in school. Kept saying someday... Someday came back in May and now my 05 Spec which has now has 144k on it and I have owned for 7 years now, has a sister which is my 06 Z (base). After the car payments on the Z are done, I plan to hold on to her, just like I am with my Spec. Just gonna drive it till the wheels fall off

I've driven just about everything available in a new sporty car within 150 miles in the last two years, but nothing lights my fire like my '08 350Z. The list includes several each new and used C7s, BMWs, 370Zs, G37s, Porsches, Scions, and even a couple Miatas.

I'm not much for just going out and driving around, but I enjoy it when I do have a reason to drive it.

I bought my 06 with 28k on it in 2009. Its not sitting at 97k. It was the first Newish car I have ever owned. With everything else being 10+ years old. I just cant see my self giving this car up. It's reliable, there are huge maintenance issues every 80-100k miles (bushings, and mounts) And for as much as I have beat on it, It has been really reliable. I feel like its the last of the mechanical feeling sports cars.

Hopefully you will find something that tickles your fancy!

I do have to say the car was very reliable. And I do love how mechanical it felt and maybe someday I will pick up another one. But I have a few other cars on my list first. If not the m3 then maybe a gtr but I'm not too sure I want to see some with higher mileage on them first. And the parts are scary pricey a guy that I work with bought a brand new 2015 a new windsheild was close to $8000.

But I will be buying the new civic type r when it realeses. Just because I have to park it next to my 97 that I imported lol

The m3 is really in my eyes because of the reliability again another guy a worked with bought a new one in 2012 and he loved it but who knows I could end up with something completly different. I will prob wait 2 years before I buy to be honest.

I hope your hoist can fix the slew of electrical issues youll likely have. Unless youre buying new id stay VERY far away from used M3's. Just my experience. Youre MUCH better off with a used 911.
