Is the enthusiast really worth...
#2
I think it is worth it and here are the differences
Traction Control
Limited slip
Cruise
Xenon Headlights
Metal Pedals
homelink
visor mirrors
dimming rear mirror
I think the HID lights are the major point here along with the TCS and LSD making the 2K well worth it.

Its worth it .. I think the enthusiast pound for pound is the best deal. It has a lot of minor things (that you see as minor now) but that u will miss a lot when u get the car. (I.e TCS, Viscous LSD, & HID's!!)
If your spending $27k for a car, just go the extra mile and work a little over time to get a more complete deal.
Adios.

There is one more benefit in selecting the "Enthusiast" over the "Base" model ... the ability to get the 5AT. Now I know you young dudes (and dudettes) will probably scoff at the thought of having an AT in the "Z", but for us in the over-50 crowd, this option may be the difference between driving a great sports car or having to settle for one more sedan, SUV or whatever. Personally, I'd rather catch 'heat' for having an AT in my "Z" than for never owning one at all.

YOU SORRY LOSER! Getting an auto tranny in a Z! Sacrelige! I'd rather remove my own eyeballs with a spoon than drive an automatic Z!!!
Just kidding. I was gonna get the AT too, but decided against it at the last minute. I'll just have to deal with commuting traffic somehow... hope the clutch is manageable...

I thought about the AT as well. But it just seemed dirty and wrong, plus the MT package came with some goodies, so I couldn't resist. MT sucks in traffic, but on the open road it's the best.
Actually SMG is the best, but you won't see that in a Z for a couple of years.
And to answer the original question..is the the enthusiast package worth it?
Yes. And it is almost a must for a car like the Z. I know it may be hard to swing for some, but if it is a simple yes/no question, then a resounding yes!

just to simplify the value, an aftermarket LSD from stillen will run you 2,300 (uninstalled) an a factory original goes for 2800 from the dealer (uninstalled) That alone makes up the price differential. Add in TCS, that cant ever be added otherwise and zenons that go for about $500 for the altima

It's all cruise control for me. That is the primary reason I chose the Enthusiast over the Base Model. There's no way I can have a car like this without Cruise. I would get too many tickets. The other options are just gravy for me.

TCS is a must have too, I forgot to mention.
the DCS on my current car, same as the Z's TCS, has saved my bacon more than a few times. I almost ate it doing some aggresive driving on some twsties up in the local hills...if I didn't have DCS I would have been part of the woodline.
Totally worth the extra bones.

What I'm trying to decide is if the $2180 is worth it to upgrade to the performance model from enthusiast is worth it.
TCS... very nice, the primary temptation for me.
18" six spoke wheels & tires... kinda like the 7 spokes actually
tire pressure monitor... nice, but necessary? I don't think so, but
cool never the less.
Sigh. life's decisions are never easy... but at least some of them are fun.

Do you think you could make up one of those charts for the CDN models. Or did you just cut and paste the options from the flash scroll menu and matched it up?
Thanks

To make the chart, I copied the lists of options for each model from the "build your own" section on nissandriven.com. I then removed all common items to make the lists a useful comparison (items common to all models are there as a marketing tool from Nissan but provide no real information when trying to decide which version to get). I then copied all the remaining options to an Excel spreadheet and filled in the boxes according to each model. The BMP is just a screenshot from the spreadsheet; I also have the actual spreadsheet file.
You can download the spreadsheet from http://www.garlic.com/~zamara/350z_options.xls and use that as a starting point for the Canadian version. (Hey, I'm Canadian too but living in California now. How's it goin', eh?)
