IT IS a federal offense to remove your catalytic converters, now state laws are different depending on the state. In Utah its recommended to have cats. Key word is recommended. Federally it is still illegal.

California has the strictest emission laws in the US. Removal of Catalytic Converters can result in a big fine. Yes CHP WILL look under your car to see if you have catalytic converters. Technically in CA any modification you have has to be CARB approved. Some CHP officers are **** about this some aren't.

Just get the HFC's. As someone else who shares this planet with you, I don't want those horrible gases the cat's eliminate emanating the environment.

And @Justin100, Thanks for clarifying that Turbos and Superchargers make you a car enthusiast, I was under the silly impression that the love and passion of cars regardless of there induction or power plant made you an enthusiast. Silly me.
