Do you ever see the value of the 350Z improving?
To me, a car is "valuable" when the current selling price is equal to or greater than the original MSRP. The only modern Z's I see meeting that standard ever are very special cars. Perhaps the first ever Nismo 350Z and the first ever Nismo 370Z.
I think a lot of this has to do with the market in your area. its tough, I do see prices of the z going down, yet in the NJ area prices seem to be around 10k. I haven't seen any z's selling for 4-5k. The going rate for a de with close to 100k is 8-11k. I did have my car for sale not that long ago and was getting offers of my asking price( 04 2nd owner 88k asking 9.5k ). I quickly took it off the market. Made that mistake before wont make it again. so like I said your area really influences the prices. I don't think prices will go much lower.
Just saw a kid selling a Z part out car.
Only thing sold was interior and front end and intake.
Motor trans and everything else was still there.
He was asking $1,200.. If I had the space I would have picked it up for a back up.

I doubt the prices will ever increase. With the 370z already here in mass production and the predecessor to the 370z coming out in the next few years I don't see the 350z increasing in value anytime soon. It may eventually but from a financial standpoint it probably won't be worth holding on to for as long as it might take to increase enough in value to compensate maintenance on it for said number of years. Unless you're a collector and your 350z will have little to no miles on it. This is all just speculation.
The 350z never broke any records like the GTR and isn't as true to the "Z heritage" like the older models. I don't see the 350 ever being a "classic." Maybe a fun car to remember the good ole days and reminisce, but I don't think it would fit the criteria of most people for holding on to a car to see it increase in value later on to sell/ brag about?
In regards to the number of NISMO cars, is that number just of registered NISMO cars built from the factory or does it also include full conversions people made?

It's the factory production number, and arguably you can't create a nismo by just bolting on parts due to the seam welded chassis by Autech.

Here's the thing I see in the future. All the cars are becoming more and more computer controlled and bloated and more bloated. I don't ever see them being worth more then MSRP but I do see them staying where they are at.
You gotta look at who can buy the cars, after 7 years and 70k miles you cannot get a loan on them. thats 80% of the 350z right there have to be bought with cash. The DE is a horrible engine to make silly power with and expensive to make 400-500whp. There are many other toys in this price range that can cost less to make fun power with.
Now the HRs with the stronger block I can see being worth a decent pile of cash. There are much less of them. You CAN do 600 HP on the block. The Nismos Will hold the value even if just for the seem welding. It's not something you can just do to any car with out massive investment. not to mention it will be a collectors car.
I think another stigma is how people view the 350z as being slow, because there are 1000 lap tests around tracks and drag tests of the DE, and few for the HR and NONE for the Nismo. combined with the fact that the SAE HP ratings were changed and your average person will laugh at the upgrade to the HR not knowing that its a big power jump and with 2k or less you can bolt HFCs and an exhaust up to it and make 300 to the wheels.
Again with the No information on the track about nismos, I think its hurting its value big as the improvements on the car are far from small. Having an '06 and moving to the nismo was night and day, but on paper it doesn't look like much.
I also feel the Grand Touring cars will always be worth a decent penny more than the rest as they too are not only rare but offer a lot more with the leather and brembos.
Currently I have 25k in hand and i'm looking for another car, I really hate autos and numb feeling drivelines and steering inputs. I've been looking at getting another Nismo (I have a wife too and we only have 1 car currently) and evo/sti, Focus ST, or possibly some earlier 90s sports car and have money to throw at it, VR4 perhaps. a 370z, even though I CAN get a nismo isn't even a question for me. I really dislike that car. I've driven many of them in test drives, and fellow Z club members cars locally. It would cost to much in exterior mods alone for me to not hate the look of it.

6-8k seems to be the sweet spot as of right now. I see them going for 6-8k restored titled or not. And im being offer 7k, Yet again. So probably thats the buying price for a 350z. Clean title or not doesnt seem to affect the price.
Things also to consider, To me at least, the V-motion crap looks bad. The 370z Got cheaped out breaks wise with the Aki's and the Q50 has a super numb and terrible drive by wire steering system, I just cant see all this crap not being dumped on the next Z.
Prices of cars running the Chutes at Barrett Jackson are crazy high...
Any '69 Camaro commands $35,000 minimum...
Didn't see any 350Zs cross the Chutes at the last Mohegan Sun - Barrett Jackson, therefore, not yet, if ever, will they anytime soon be considered " investments ".
Get out and enjoy your 350Z !
Best $4,000 bang for the buck out there.

I can get a 370z Nismo right now if I want. I'm just not a fan. The 350z Nismo looks soooo much better. Nissan hasn't announced anything about a new Z not even a "we are working on it" and after looking at the sales numbers I wouldn't be surprised if they took another Z break. With all the money they just dumped in to mitsu.

Very few cars will stop depreciating til they reach 20 years old anyway. I think they are even considered/called different at that age. A lot of things go int value and those that mention location are spot on to a big one. Others are color, version, trim, and of course mileage. My ZR has always been a weekend toy. I still enjoy every time I drive it. Its devilish fun to drive through the mountains near here. I am sure it will stop depreciating in 10 years, just as all the others eventually did. Like others have said enjoy your car. Also, cars are seldom investments.
