Default New wheels for 2006 base 350z

Hey guys, new to the forums. Needing to get new wheels as the right rear is partially bent and unable to be straightened. The front are of course 18x8 with 30 mm offset and the rear are 18x8.5 with 33 mm offset. The front tires are 225/45/18 and the rear are 245/45/18. I want to upgrade to get 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear because I want to upgrade my tires to 245/35/18 and 285/35/18 in the rear when I eventually need new wheels. Just wondering if that will work for the time being with the base wheels and if it will look weird stretched as my car is not lowered. Also with the offset it is hard finding wheels similar to the offset so if it is different is that a big deal. Sorry I am new to the whole car scene. Thank you!

8.5/9.5 is a good combination. HOWEVER, if you want to run 285s out back, would suggest you go 9.5/10.5. Ideal wheel size for 285s is an 11" wheel - based solely on 1:1 relationship between wheel and tire widths. (A utopian guideline only.)

However, you can physically mount a 285 on a 9.5 easily but it won't give you optimum tire performance. But it works....

DO NOT mount that 285 on the stock 8.5. It can physically be mounted but performance will be off - noticeably, even in daily use due to too much sidewall slop - as 8.5 equates to "only" 215mm and applying the tire shop standard (well, the good shops do) of 1.2x (120%) being the maximum tire width-to-wheel ratio for best performance, the max tire you should run on an 8.5 is a 255 or maybe 265.

Your desired tire sizes are off as well. Look at this simple chart that shows the size and overall diameters of the tires. You NEED to keep the tires within a couple percentage points of original for proper operation of any/all sub-systems you may have, like TCS, VDC, and yes, even ABS is affected by running irregular sizes.

225 45% 18 25.97 Stock Reference Size
245 45% 18 26.68 Stock Reference Size

245 40% 18 25.72 Front-Alternate
255 35% 18 25.03

In my case 19x8.5/9.5, I am looking to get sizes 235/35 & 275/35.. are these considerable as far as performance are concern? not affecting vdc, abs?

Why not 235/40 and 275/40? Or 245/40 and 275/40? Those 35 series tires are an inch or better smaller than oem sizes

I have aftermarket wheels and lowered about 1.5 Those were the sizes recommended to me by a mechanic bud just trying to get 2nd opinion from wheel experts here

There's plenty of people who lower their car and still use the right size tire.

I have 245/40/18 front 265/40/18 rears... If I had a base model and didnt need to worry about traction control issues I would have dont 265/40/18 all around...

Unless your running 265/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rears I would stay away from 35 series 18 inch tires.

Just reiterating what rearranged already said...

OK, already did the math and the explanation. Please look at the table in post #2 above.

Here, I've even added the missing 235/35 number: 24.47" overall diameter. (Didn't include on table cuz already knew it was ridiculously short.)

Front delta from stock 25.97-24.47 = 1.50" shorter
Rear delta from stock 26.68-25.28 = 1.40" shorter

Why? I don't have a vase and run 285 35 with no problems

Next tire will be 275 35 for more tires choices

My traction control has gone off with stock sizes just from having new rear tires... I think some cars are more sensitive than others.

its annoying when you take a turn and your slip light goes crazy and you lose power...

I'm getting a lot of good feedback. Thank you guys. Just wondering still if I were to go 8.5 in the front if the 225 I currently have will stretch and fit that bigger wheel. Same for the 245 to stretch onto the 9.5. Also, does offset really matter??

I have 245s on my 9.5 inch wheel, it's a not a big stretch bbuy i dont think the 45 sidewall will appreciate it... Offset is everything... unless you want the car to look horribly wrong you need to pay attention to all the details... Or just get another set of oem wheels if your not getting bigger tires and you dont care about offset.

Well just wanted to let everyone know I decided to go ahead and purchase Enkei TS-10 wheels. The front I went with 18x8.5 with 25 mm inset and the rear I went with 18x9.5 with 35 mm inset. That was the closest inset I found so far and the wheels look fantastic. Will post picture when I get them on the car!! Thanks for the help guys!!

My man you should have gotten the +15 offset... Really 0 offset 18x9.5 wheels would be ideal
