Default Need help buying 350z HR pics inside

Hey guys, went to look at a Z today and was looking under the hood and noticed the pcv valve is been cut off. Owner had it like this for 5 years. But in the pic there is something else that looks like it was cut off. What could it be and should I stay away from the car? There is also old oil grime under where the pcv hose is. What could be the cause?

It's missing the breather hose that connects between both intakes and the valve cover. The closer to stock, the better. Unless you plan on adding the same intakes that are on that car

What is the hose connected too, it looks like it broke off from that piece to the right of it.

Also underneath that there is oil build up all along the bottom piece (can't really see it cuz flash was off) . Is that possibly a leaking valve cover gasket?

Thanks

Bummer. The first site I looked at had this:

WARNING: Removing or disconnecting the PCV system in an attempt to improve engine performance gains nothing, and is illegal. EPA rules prohibit tampering with any emission control device. Disabling or disconnecting the PCV system can also allow moisture to accumulate in the crankcase, which will reduce oil life and promote the formation of engine-damaging sludge.

Rules in CA may be different, but the effect of removing the valve is the same.

I'd pass on this one, because it was obviously owned or serviced by an idiot.

to me it looks like it broke off of the resonator under the engine plastics. but if he is too lazy to fix it, what else was he too lazy to do?

Yes, looks like it broke off

Note also - it's pointing towards the exhaust manifold - on older/worn engines you can get oil vapor - oil fires are not fun

In short, stay away from that one. There's plenty of better Z's out there

I'm getting a really good deal on it. But if that piece that's broken off is sucking dirt in I rather not.
The old oil build up is around the ignition coils. Is that a big issue or easy fix.

not my money though. how much is it, and mileage?

Well if it's a breather that vents out and doesnt the suck in then It's not a huge deal. But if it does suck In air I'll pass. He says nissan told him it's the pcv valve but from my knowledge that's not a valve lol. Does anyone know what the parts name that would need to be replaced?

And what's stressing me out is the deal I agree on is $8000. With 135k kms. He just did brakes new slave new clutch and flywheel. Comes with stillen exhaust and intakes and under drive pulley. It's just the exterior needs love. Swirls scratches and dents. The average hr 350z goes for about 14-16k for good condition in my areaNeed help buying 350z HR pics inside-img_20160906_164819.jpgNeed help buying 350z HR pics inside-img_20160906_164715.jpgNeed help buying 350z HR pics inside-img_20160906_165249.jpg

There are 2 resonators under the plastic, each one connects to the intake about midway up the tubing, if it is broke and hanging down, it is pulling in dirty air. If the price is right, have a shop do a compression teat to make aure each cylinder is at spec.

I am not saying dont buy it, just throughly have it checked

Can you identify what part is broken off in this illustration of the crankcase ventilation system? Looks like it's 11823+A to me.

You gotta wonder how that got broken. Has the engine been removed, undergone extensive work, or been replaced?

He claims new slave and new clutch and flywheel were done, does he have paperwork to show that? Just saying because I've delt with people always saying they "just" did something yet has no receipts to show especially if it was "just" purchased. I man i can tighten up the clutch pedal and throw some carb cleaner over a leaky slave and get it fresh to the eye too. I'd pass on that one. Couldn't replace a $6.00 part but somehow had everything else done? naa. Id do what travlee said but man I've made to many mistakes to allow almost $10k go to burned blown waste. Check Everything! Send it to a mechanic and let him keep it for a day to see what's up.

Great diagram. I've been looking for one and couldn't find it. it's 11823E
It doesn't appear to be connected to anything except to the stock air intake. I watched a video on YouTube and a guy installing 370z gen 3 stillen intakes say it's useless and people break that part off.

My main concern is the oil grime that is on top of the ignition coils. Do any of you have the same problem? And what harm could be done if oil leaked into the ignition coil

it connects past the filter, so if it is sucking air in (which it is)... its dirty air. see the silver part on the pic below... that tube would connect to that
