Default I'm wanting a Good throaty exhaust for my Z

I have a stock 2004 350Z base.

I love so much about this car, but I really want a rumble!

I've read a little, but not sure what I want/need. I don't have an unlimited budget, but am a do it my self guy. I'd like the most bang for the buck. I don't live in a city that requires emissions tests. If just replacing the exhaust from the Cat's back, then that would be great...and much easier, but if I have to remove the cats etc. I'm ok with that.

If it's as easy as replacing the exhaust from the cats back, can anyone recommend something...(on Amazon is even better) to replace and get a nice throaty rumble?

thanks,

Wade

Thanks, but not looking for generalities! I'm not poor either. I just want the best bang for the buck.

Find a used greddy or stillen
should go around for as low as $400 if youre lucky...

nismo s-tune runs 600-900...

all ebay exhaust are the same

best u can buy that most generally agree is motordyne
which is what i have

they will all generally give the same gains, just a refined sound will come with the more expensive systems.

If price were not an issue, and you want throaty Borla or HKS would be he best

HKS Replica on ebay will probably be your best bet lol

If you bothered to do just the minimum amount of research in the exhaust section here, you'd have seen the following most mentioned as favorites or best in the various price zones:

Low: EBay Dual (HKS ripoff)-Spend $250 on it then curse at it for being too loud and leaky

Medium: Invidia Gemini or Nismo S-Tune (if you could find one) or Tomei Expreme if you like loud.

High: Motordyne TDX2

I was in the same quest 6 month ago. Went through cat delete, then muffler delete - but all sounded really poor... No throatyness or rumble at all - just farting and droning like hell...
I have read numerous post here on my350z and it looked like best bang for buck are Invidia Gemini and Tanabe Medallion Touring.
As I was not going the true dual route - I choose Tanabe Medallion Touring.
That exhaust has really nice and sexy tone. It is not abnoxiously loud, but sounds very mean and stylish.
I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the search for new exhaust for Z.
You can get one from amazon, or that is way much better - you can support one of the vendors of my350z.
Good luck!

I did the muff delete for shts and gigs. Sounds ok from about 3k to 5k rpm but then kind of mutes out at anything less or more. Nice but not phenomenal.

Still better than stock. Waiting till post turbo to have a 2.75" pipe made. Since I know some turbos don't line up with some systems. No reason to gamble on a $800 exhaust if it's a maybe on fit with the turbos.

Upgraded to what? Doesn't get much better than the S tune and they are hard to get.

+1 on the Medallion Touring. I've had mine paired with the Tanabe y pipe and stock cats for the past three years and above 3k rpm the sound is lovely. It won't flow as well as a true dual setup, but I really just wanted something well mannered after the leaky HKS replica the previous owner had on the car.
