First track day of 2020/went well. Sadly only the first session recorded properly.

Felt a bit rusty the first run. Missed a couple shifts and several apex.

So cold tires are a real thing. I heard it many times from the announcers on TV.. This was the first green lap of the day... Pulled out a great save.

Also, I had no clue I snapped this picture until I came home.. I absolutely LOVE it. This is the roofline on the Z.

I had to create an account to post on this thread. I have an 04 that I own with a buddy and we track it exclusively. I expected like all other threads that this one ended years ago, but was delighted to see that it's up to date! It looks like you've already stumbled upon something we found early, which is a square setup really helps the car stay settled in the corners. After watching your videos I see you are still pumping the brake once or twice before the full push. We haven't experienced any of these issues you have so curious if you still need the first pump or two? We have slotted rotors, SS brake lines and Hawk pads, zero braking issues. We also have an oil cool and PS cooler but I believe we have a 25 row setrab and we max out around 242 at the highest on our track. Nice to see someone basically doing the same stuff we are and seeing very similar results! I'm dying to do the switch on the yaw sensor to fully disable tcs and vdc, hoping to see some change there. Keep the updates comin!

Thanks for signing up just to comment. Would love to see you start a thread of your own too.
Yeah man, I pump the brakes to get a firm feel still. I also give it a little tap to make sure they are still there and to also set the weight to the front of the car.
I rebuilt the seals on the pistons this past winter. Run Mutol 600 fluid .. might try 660 when I run out of 600.

Forgot to mention we use RBF600 so similar there too. Not sure why I just thought this, but I think you might want to adjust your yaw switch setup. I’ve read and seen a lot of info on splicing the orange wire instead of the ground. The ground will turn off the abs which I wonder if that has anything to do with your braking. I read also when you disable abs that the brake bias is heavily off from what’s desired. I believe too much rear bias. There’s a bunch of threads on proportioning valves and deleting abs but I find it better to retain it for tracking. Curious if that would do anything different for you.

Hmmm. I'll look into that. Unsure why it would be different if it was a power or ground wire that was split.

I'd easily say I don't have a rear bias. I go through 2 sets of pads up front for every single pair in the rear.

Here’s one of the threads I recall reading. It’s weird how different cars have different situations.

I went back to try and find where I read about the abs being disabled by the ground wire but I can’t find it. You don’t happen to know what the orange wire is used for do you? I also found a thread with your responses on it so I see where you followed that write-up. I plan to make my setup this week to be ready for our next track day.

In the spirit of sharing, I’ve found a lot of good information on Michael Gardner’s YouTube channel, kohlercreated.com, and the 350z247 YouTube channel. Especially that last one as he goes all out on fabrication and I’d love to do some of that eventually. There’s also some videos on speed society yt channel about a 350z that is pretty informative.

I think Michael Gardner has a build thread, its pretty nice since you can see the progress come along (just like yours). Every once in a while I'll go back there and get some ideas or just look at pics just because. I am not sure if he is still doing motorsports since I have not seen him post or upload in a while.

Also, Frank have you looked at SCCA Time Trials national tour coming up last weekend of August? Its @ NJMP Lightning. I will be there with 2 other Z friends! If you haven't checked it out, its a great event, its ~$340 for 2 days worth of seat time. This year they will be with Global Time Attack @ the track also. So it will be a super fun event to participate and also be able to see those guys go!

Hopefully you can get out there because it will be a blast!

Yeah, I haven't tried the time trials yet. I'm a DJ by trade and work most weekends that's why I do the Track Night in America events, they are hosted during the week. The other issue is I drive the Z to the track. No trailer, truck to haul it nor small tire dolly. I put my track tires on and drive to the track, then drive home.

They had time trials at Pitt Race a couple weeks ago. Maybe it'll be back before the end of the year.

New Track Vid. Lost the GPS on the telemetry so no track map or lap times.

Around the 8:30 mark, I let a 911 pass me and the Z does a great job keeping up with it for a while.

Just dropped $1,200 on new tires for the track. Budget is about done for the year. Overly done if the wife knew. LOL

NIce! You're definitely outdriving the Porsche in the corners! He's relying on HP to keep ahead of you.
