Default Fuel Door Latch Question

Aloha Guys,

I've looked through many threads but can't find the information I need.

My gas latch is busted, but the actuator is working ok - it's just the little plastic piece that holds the door is missing. Since it's missing, I've never seen one, so I don't know what it looks like exactly.

My question is this: is this plastic piece available from Nissan parts or will they only be able to sell me the whole assembly? I hate buying a $100 part just to fix a tiny piece of plastic. So I was going to 3D print this part, but if I can just buy it without buying the whole actuator then I'll do it. I did print out something that was pretty close, but I can't figure out how to attach it to the moving piston that opens the latch.

Nissan parts is closed on weekends unfortunately.

Thanks for any information or suggestions you have.

Honestly. I replaced my solenoid from a part out in here. It's a super simple plastic clip. I think you can accomplish what you want with a 3/8-1/2" old school spring clamp. As I recall the unit has a flat surface to keep the alignment, too. gl!

Cool idea - thanks. Not sure if I'll be able to find any that small here on-island, but worth a look.
You also gave me another idea: a small piece of silicone hose might do the trick too.

Bam! OK I designed and printed out something that worked to both allow the door to close and keep it flush. I posted a photo of the part so you get an idea of what I made.
I won't be using the using the electric switch, but I could care less. Before the door was being held 'closed' by a wad of duct tape from the previous owner and wouldn't sit flush...it was always 1/4" high and had to be pushed in all the time. With my 3D printed piece, it wedges into the hole, makes the door perfectly flush (finally!!) and I can easily open it with my fingernail.

Another small victory in my quest to make this car nice but spend as little as possible.

Thanks for that Travlee - didn't know about that website. I don't think this tiny piece has a part number because it's considered part of the whole actuator..but I could be wrong.
