Default Someone rear ended me, cracked original Veilside bumper

Hi. Someone just rear ended me, cracking my original Veilside V3 bumper. I wonder how the insurance companies handles those situations? And if bumper needs to be replaced, what the outcome would be? How do I prove to them how much my bumper cost?

So this claim will be with the other driver's insurance? Do you have the contact info (agent or claim service) for their insurance? Take it in to be assessed and let the body shop determine if it can be repaired or replaced.

Yes, I have all of the info. So do I just have to take the car to the body shop, and they will work with the other driver's insurance?

Don't just have it done.

Get a quote. Then submit that to the insurance and hope the cover aftermarket parts, and not only OEM

I believe you have to notify your insurance of any modifications for replacement value and coverage purposes.

However, it would help your claim if you had proof of purchase/paint install receipts...

This... SOOOO this!! ^^^

When my Shiro got eaten alive, the offending driver's insurance co. offered me a paltry $4000 for the car. Nuh uhhh, don't think so..... I had to build a case just like one would for a court appearance.

Told 'em (and produced supporting documents):

- "I can't FIND another, let alone replace this car. Try finding one.... here's the few listings for ones that sold for 5x what you're offering."

- "Oh, by the way, I have ALL of the receipts for the restoration work here plus a spreadsheet for the time I personally spent on it."

- "RUFKM?! I paid more for the basic, unrestored car!"

With that, they sent an pro appraiser out and following that, I then went shopping and bought two "new" project cars. Nothing underhanded about this at all. Main point: I knew what I had and I could prove it.

I bet that replacing the oem and the veilside will be pretty much the same for any reputable shop...

Problem is, I got it from one of the members here, had to restore it and paint it. I don't even know if I have any of the receipts left, it was like 6-7 years ago...
Talked to the body shops around, they said to find this bumper on internet and show the printout with the price, may be it will help.
Anyway, will collect couple of more estimates from reputable shops and will search for companies who is still selling Veilside V3 kits

I still sell veislide.
honestly, the bumpers are around a grand, its not that expensive, nor is it that far off from oem bumper pricing.
