Default 2005 convertible top won’t go all the way down

The convertible top dash light is on and the sealing part of he top when it is up will not completely seal down and here is about a 1 inch gap across the back and I was hoping someone would weigh in with any experience or anything.

Perhaps the 5th bowrelease is stuck shut or something.

Much like a door handle or the trunk of most any car, there is a release that opens and closes at the appropriate time when the 5th bow comes up and goes down. Clearly, you're not getting the 5th bow all the way down.

Mine does it all the time. Maybe the metal "hook" on the underside of the 5th bow is just not reaching the release when you close it, or the release itself is stuck. maybe get some sort of lube down in that hole in the middle of the storage hatch? 3 in 1 oil?

Or it may just need a little push. Kinda like when you gently close your door and it doesn't quite close all the way... careful when you nudge it though .

Us roadster guys gotta look out for each other... we're few and far between

There is a cross member that is pinching fabric like right in the middle of the top.

Should be the one with elastic straps on it. While it's going down push the fabric out and help the rod go all the way down and the rest should close on it's own. It happens to all of them.

If you can't figure out what rod I'm talking about. It's the one that goes across. That when closed it's the bar right above your head.

I think he's talking about the 5th bow... you know, the back flap with the window in it... the last part of the closing sequence (and the first part of the opening sequence).

But If I was reading it wrong OP, CK_32 is talking about the "3rd bow." these tops are so damn complicated.

STILL WORTH IT

Rereading it you might be right. I thought he meant when he tried to open the top it gets stuck about 1" from closing.

And yes, these tops can be haha
