Glowing red rotor, help!
so recently i had been smellinga funky metal/burning smell but i couldn’t locate it, eventually i found it to be in the rear end and just thought old exhaust(05 350z in WA), but tonight i hopped out after driving only home from work and the top of my rear driver side rotor was glowing red. i don’t think my ebrake is locking up and i really want braking hard i usually downshift. Any tips help i have to drive it daily so i need to fix this soon.

it doesn’t feel like my brakes are locked up, i am still able to drive normal and it shouldn’t be the e-brake it’s not engaged but at the same time it’s super loose

I'd still be jacking it up just to check what is going on. I'm still with Herrschaft and SQuaLZ
and think its a seized caliper. The only other thing i can think of is that your wheel bearing is shot, but then you'd be getting a rumbling noise as you were driving plus it would be louder going around right hand corners as more weight would be on the drivers side hub.

This is very weird. If the brakes are creating enough friction that they are causing them to glow red, I don't understand how the car would still drive normal.
I once adjusted my e-brake a little too much (since we all now how crappy the 350Z e-brake design is) and it was slightly still engaged while driving. I got on the highway and immediately felt some vibration and smelled burning. Went right back home and fixed it.

I'm thinking a stuck E-brake because of this.. but idk, you gotta do some more troubleshooting back there once you get that wheel, caliper, and rotor off.

my 2 cents- its the rearmost parking brake pad/plate stuck in place or stuck caliper.
you left out if its factory brakes or BBKs?
either way- jack car up-pull the wheel and have a moment of zen as the problem becomes obvious.
because- once you pull that wheel off and start looking around- you should be able to see exactly what is wrong.

Yeah whats up with this? I live in flat FL but still need to yank the parking brake (calling an e-brake is a bit misleading) pretty much all the way up to keep the car still just sitting on tiny incline of my driveway. On my previous Honda and VW about 1/2 way up was plenty. Why is full up considered "normal" on these Zs?

Don't forget to rule out a collapsed flex hose too!.It could be allowing fluid to pass through it one way no problem but very slowly the other causing your calipers piston to stay stuck until the fluid drains back.Heck your pads could be seized in the bracket too.Best to do a full
check over.

Nope... it's just a design flaw.
Parking in gear is a MUST on the 350Z lol. I learned the hard way on week 1 of my car when my car started rolling on the slightest of hills. Thankfully I was in the car and hit the brakes before I hit anything.
