Default Nismo S-Tune Worth It?

I was browsing my local Craigslist and came across a 350z "Nismo Exhaust" but as I was inspecting the photos, it had the Weldina tag on it. To my understandings, this is an S-Tune exhaust and is worth slightly more than the original Nismo exhaust? The seller is not aware of the differences and claims that this will bolt up to the stock mid pipe (which, I am aware it won't without modification..) and states that its off an 07 and won't fit my 03 (I am pretty sure mufflers and mid pipes are the same and this will work just fine with my OEM Y-pipe?)

He is asking $350 for muffler and mid pipe, no Y-pipe.

Searching the forums, I do not see much for resent S-Tune exhaust pricing and was not sure if this is still a good deal anymore. Is it worth it?

IIRC the s tune has a specific sound and has the nismo sticker which is why it is worth more than the standard. Not sure about the price point tho.

Will not work without pipe mod. See here for more complete answer:

A 2007 OE muffler will work just fine with an '03 midpipe but this isn't the case here; different pipe config.

If its a muffler with mid pipe I would say it's a good deal.

I agree. $350 for a S-Tune muffler and midpipe is very good. As I learned the hard way, the S-Tune's weakest link is the Y-pipe.

If you do get this, you can upgrade the stock Y-pipe to the HR Y-pipe if you are on a budget, or I strongly recommend the Motordyne XYZ. I couldn't be happier with my current setup.

I keep hearing so many awesome things about the XYZ that I keep waiting for my S-Tune Y-pipe to implode so I can try out the MD. But I don't run test pipes so it'll probably last a while. Dammit.

Had 0 problems with the Y-pipe for like 7 years. Installed test pipes and the Y-pipe broke within a week.

Just install test pipes and it will force your hand

Thank you for all your feedback! I ended up purchasing the mid-pipe and muffler, all in excellent condition. Excited to toss it on the car this weekend

Nice pickup. I misread the original post and missed the part where it "comes with mid-pipe but no Y-pipe" hence comment about pipe misfit. Straight bolt-in now! That's a good deal. There is a little bit more gain to be had from getting a new Y-pipe as the gains, however minimal, from an S-Tune comes from fore of the rear muffler with the larger piping. The rear muff essentially just looks cool and is what is tuned to give the nice sound.

Fact I've spit out before but love the fact, so here it is again: the original 350Z exhaust was acoustically tuned to sound very similar to the original S30 exhaust despite differing engine configurations. That "famous VQ sound" actually comes from a legacy.
