Default trunk light question

how do we know this thing shuts off? i don't see a sensor or something that normally pushes in for the light's circuit to be cut. the reason i ask this is because i left work today and put the cover in the trunk and 4.5hrs later i go outside to put it on and it felt warm like the light was making contact w/ it. this wouldn't be wierd if it were nice outside, but it's currently about 35-45 degrees. anybody know how that light shuts off? thanks in advance for any info. late

Trunk latch makes contact and depresses the button that turns off the trunk light. If you did not have the trunk closed all the way it would leave the light on. I know because mine was on more than a few times. Bottom line is shut the trunk hard to get it closed.

it is kind of like the thing with how do we know the light on the refrigerator turns off when we close the door, huh? j/k.

if you are still having problems with it, why not getting a digital camera with movie capability, lay it down facing the light and then close the trunk? after, check the movie to see if the light went off. i dont know, just a thought.
