Default F#$(K got my first speeding ticket

I'm 23 with no speeding tickets, well except for tonight

Son of a B*#($(. So it was a great night. I met up with some HOT 18 year old whom I spend most of the night with ( I wont go into details as Im sure my post will be deleted). Anyway, coming back on a natural high I gave the z some gas.
On my way back home, I'm cruising along (wasnt going that fast). I come to a light and signal, I notice a trooper staying back behind me. Fu***ing a$$ pulls me over. I told him "ive never had a speeding ticket in my life" He said "you're about to." He told me I was going 20mph over, I asked him how he clocked me. He said " I was sitting in a parking lot doing paperwork and you flew by. So I followed you and got you doing 60mph in a 40mph zone."

Which is bull, because there was NEVER any car even remotely near me when I was driving. He pulled the number out of his a$$.

He knocked the ticket down to 49 in a 40mph when I told him I was trying to get into the state police to become a trooper (I lie well lol) .

What I want to know is, how the hell did he clock me going 60mph without a radar gun. He said he used something called stalker? Yet there was no other cars near me, including him. I think the only reason he gave me this ticket was because of 2 previous offenses I got over 3 years ago (spinning wheels and illegal uturn). F****KING S##*$T.
Is it even worth getting a lawyer? Or will they try to use those 2 past offenses against me?
This is a serious BS ticket, he wasnt even close enough to pace me. My radar detector (which works flawlessly) didnt go off. He is lying out of his a$$. But how would I prove this?

Either make him show you the gun. Or the report from the gun showing your speed. The burden of proof is on him.

Unfortunatly, it's you're word against his. Cops don't have to show you the gun reading. I also beleive the readings are not logged.

If you take it to court, there is a 50/50 chance he will not show up (especially since the cop probably knows he wasen't able to clock you as well). The ticket will be automatically dissmissed. If he does show up you could ask to see the radar calibration certificate and also if he has recollection of the event (where he was located when he spotted your vehicle in relation to traffic etc.) If he can't produce either, it will be dissmised.

Dissolved, no offense but you need to do your homework if you are going to speed. He had radar, that's what a stalker is. What radar detector do you have? It may not have picked him up. Unless you have police friends who will come by and help you check your radar detector, you will never know when it doesn't work, only when it does.
1. Always be polite to the police officer, it'll pay off in court.
2. You were speeding, not him, so don't be mad at him for catching you.
3. He cut you a big break 49/40 vs 60/40.
4. It's too late to request to view the reading on his radar if that is allowed in your state. It's not in Virginia.
5. A lot of times the judge will allow you to go to driving school for a first offense 49/40 and drop the points. That wouldn't be the case for 60/40.
6. It's the policeman's job to write tickets. If they don't, they get their butts chewed out by the sergants. This is especially true for the younger officers.

This is what angers me. When I passed him, it was in 50mph zone and I was NOT SPEEDING. (he was sitting in a liquor store parking lot). I never saw him until I was at a redlight signaling to go left.

The roads were deserted which is probably why he followed me.
I have a brand new $129 cobra detector. "STALKER" is KA radar band. Which my detector has picked up SEVERAL TIMES even that day. Its not new at all, been around a while.

This is what really happened:
Cop sees fast looking car on a desert road. Follows car waiting for car to swurve (dui etc).

But the thing is, the cop was NO WHERE BEHIND ME. So "pacing" is out of the quesiton. My detector didnt even beep and I know it works flawlessly because it beeped on another road on the way home (ka band aka stalker band).

ANyone else wanna give advice? I am fighting this as I know he was lying . This is something they do, I have cops in the family.

How do you know he wasn't behind you? I can't see crap out the back of my Z. Maybe he had his headlights off? I would avoid throwing around the lying accusations when you get to court, it's not going to go over so well. You said you had prior tickets and the judge is going to see that at court, you might be better off just asking them for a break when you get to court.

Take him to court. The cop will probably not even show up, in which case you win by default. If he does, I would use his vague numbers against him. Most of the people I know that went to court either got out of their tickets or got reduced fines.

police do not necessarily need a radar to catch you speeding. They can clock your speed by following you. In NY, police officers are regarded as experts in speed judgement and they do not have to have a radar.

Dissolved, there is a reason that my Valentine 1 costs 3 times as much as your Cobra, it does a better and more reliable job detecting radar. Bite the bullet and buy a better radar detector. As long as you drive a car like the Z you're going to attract more attention from the police. They assume that you bought a Z to go fast and when they see you drive buy they'll check your speed, more often that if you were driving a Ford Taurus. The trooper cut you a break. Go to traffic court and see if the judge will let you slide and go to school for a day. You have a good record with no other speeding infractions.

23 with a clean record here too bro! *knock on wood*

I know getting pulled over is inevitable...it's just a matter of "when?"

Just be glad your first ticket was in the Z...frame it.

I know a few cops in my town and they don't mind showing up to court at all. So it really depends on their day and where the venue is ...they still get paid no matter what. if you can't fight it...just pay it, take traffic school brush it off. Try to train your eyes to see those Crown Victoria headlights.

Yes, be glad your first was in the Z...mine was in a 98 Expedition.

Just take it; go to traffic school for 4 hrs, im going next saterday i believe and from what i heard, traffic school is pretty fun.

valentines and escorts are great but what are you going to do when more and more cops start using lasers? you can get a laser jammer, but the cops going to give you the dummest tickets for tints, crap on the dash, etc...

35ozephyr, nice avatar---victoria secret model? haha

I'd advise just going to court, pleading guilty, then most likely getting put into a driving school class. Been there, done that multiple times. It generally won't go against your record, or will be suspended if you keep your record clean for a period of time (say, a year).

As has been said before, they can pace you and write you a ticket without even using radar. It might be BS in your case...I don't know. However, it can stand up in court. Radar or laser aren't the only ways you can get a ticket.

Here's what I did with my last ticket...it Cost me $129 plus the cost of traffic school to keep it off my record...He clocked me at 52 in a 40 zone (and I was driving a 97 Explorer...you want to talk about chicken shzz tickets!)

But here's the fun part...take the amount paid for the ticket devided by the number of times you were speeding and never got cought..I call this my 'Fun Factor'...for me I figure it cost about $1 for every time I broke 100

Oh, and 35oZephyR...awsome avatar my friend

Default RELAX...

Ditto.

And like 35oZephyR said
... getting pulled over is inevitable...it's just a matter of "when?"
Just be glad your first ticket was in the Z...frame it.
And my .02; get use to it. You're driving a Z and Joe Average is driving a Ford Escort, who do you think has the higher probability of getting pulled? You are going to catch the eye of a cop a lot faster now in the Z.

If you really think you're innocent hire an attorney and to go court. But the ticket will be cheaper in the long run.

Just consider it a life lesson. I guarantee you it won’t be your last ticket.

Peace.

arent u allow to appeal??

my brother got pulled today also... the cop pulled us after my brother change lane because the road was narrow with cars parkin on the side of the road...

the state trooper pulled us over..ask for license and registeration...he DID NOT tell us anything about why we got pulled...he then came back and said you did 46 in a 25 zone.... what kind of BS was that? there was no way we were going 46 in that period of time..the ticket is 210 bucks and my family and relatives told us to definitely appeal... the funny thing is my bro wasnt even going fast and got pulled..and the cop decided to make some BS up... the ticket also said RADARED AND ESTIMATED... yeah..ok....he didnt radar us for sure...

also, my bro is 23 with 5 yrs of driving experience and this is his first ticket... ( my bro doesnt drive a Z, he drives a 2.5 rs...2001..the old model and its silver )
