You are not doing anything wrong. That is the way the system operates.

The only way recirculate works is if the a/c is on. Sucks in a way but nothing wrong with your car or you.

Ok, but I can't put recirculate even when the A/C is on and I want it on front Defrost / Defrog only. I can put recirculate if it is on front Defrost / Defrog AND leg vents open.

I don't know if I am being clear. Even when the A/C is on, I can't have recirculate AND front Defrost / Defog together.

How can I Defog in traffic without getting suffocated

The controls can go on heat/recirculate provided you are not set on defog. Think about it, the object of defog is to get the moisture out of your car. if it recirculated, you would never be able to do this because you are circualting saturated air.

 

So I guess that is the way it is... Well, with other cars I' ve driven you can defog and re-circulate, together. Might not work optimally, but it makes an effect. I just can't fathom the idea of having a truck with his exhausts up my vents and I need to defog a little to be able to move forward. It means, I have to inhale his fumes, or not defog and be blind....
