Default Base model diff options

So with some research i’ve seen that diffs do but don’t swap over from 350z to 370z but my question i cant seem to find an answer to is will a vlsd bolt up to an open diff model of a Z? I want to go to a welded but i want a spare/backup incase anything happens. i’d rather buy a vlsd and weld than weld my open. Anything helps

If you are welding it, you might as well weld the open diff. The VLSD bolts right up to the base 350Z axles and driveshaft. I went open to VLSD to Quaife and couldn’t be happier with my Quaife.

Is this a street car or a drift missile? Welded diff on a street car is not the best idea.

6mt 3.5 open diff axle stub on left vs 6mt 370z 3.69 VLSD stub.

6mt to 6mt diff will be easier than 5at to 6mt diff. The input shaft will have to be changed out if going with latter.

If you run the 370z VLSD your speedo will be off by approximately 3 mph. People on here including a couple of "experts" have told me to swap over the open diff axle stubs to fix the issue. The problem is they are in fact not interchangeable.

From what I am understanding from the OP, he just wants to swap in a VLSD in the meantime while welding his open diff, which leads me to believe he just wants to do a pumpkin swap. Does the 370Z pumpkin bolt right up to the 350Z? I know all 350Z pumpkins are interchangeable. It's the input shafts internally that are different.

Wasn't implying you Squal, had conversations with long time members who gave me inaccurate info with the axle stubs.

I know, just trying to help the OP with saying a full pumpkin swap is interchangeable, although not sure with the 370Z

I only changed my diff 3 times (on my 4th diff now) so I unfortunately have some knowledge lol.
