Nice, LOW mileage (4,900!?!?) GT Roadster on BaT. Right now at a steal-it bid (but well under reserve I'm guessing.)
Optional chrome wheels (would prefer the forged GT 18/19 wheels but whatevs) and Brembos. Nice. Not so nice dents.

Here ya go, another car someone bought hoping to seize on future Z hysteria. 2,200 miles. Honestly, don''t know why people even bother buying a car to not drive it. A Ferrari 250GT maybe but this? Automatic at that.Oh well, at least it's an Anniversary car. That should add a few hundred to it's value.

My take: 33k Km shows like a lot more. The underside is kinda messy and it's been resprayed so not too thrilled about the condition given the low mileage. I question why the black paint/undercoating hackjob. What's hiding underneath?
And perhaps the biggest question is: Why are there Webers under the hood? Datsun never installed Webers on any S30/PS30. Only 40mm Mikuni Solex PHHs on the Z432 (below)
Not these as on the auction car:
Nothing wrong with Webers, mind you. Just leads me to ask "Why?"
I'm nitpicking and there's probably valid reasons for all this. #becauseracecar or something but if I were spending a quarter mil on a car, I'd want absolute, 100% genuine bone stock, even in rougher condition. I don't like the "fixes".

I don't get it. I'd be perfectly happy with a 240Z. or maybe not? depends on whether it's in good condition or not. I just don't like restoring old cars. been down that road. it's very very messy.

I've done a few semi-restos in this period which I call "Mic's Mild Midlife Crisis" <Laff> Yes, my excuse to pic-ho a few of them since no current Z to blast! HA!
This Z32 was famous for having Ling Long tires on it.
This one was short lived. Had it for about 6-8 months, half of that time sitting in the garage trying to make it pass smog. (Only car I ever had to use "that guy.") Shipped it out-of-state after remediating issues, doing the interior over, replaced worn cams and injection related maladies.
Spent a long time (too long) on this valve cover. Haha. That's why the red Z's valve cover (above) got paint not polish. Never again.
This was my pride and joy. It didn't need a lot, mostly cleanup, some minor exterior work, a few mechanical things, suspension tuning. Then, one week after declaring it "done". It got taken out by an errant driver in front of my house. I got it really cheap and even though it got turned into scrap, I made double what I had into it. The short time I had with this car was documented on this site here. If anyone is interested in a rare, "historical Z."
Only Nissan product left in the house. I did NOTHING to restore this one. Bought it as shown - except for wheels/tires. I do have the much vaunted Bilstein/MY setup sitting in the garage. Been too lazy to do anything since I don't really drive it.
I call them all semi-restos because I always followed my lifelong ethos of "Start with a good base to begin with!" And, I bought them all when Z's and Datsuns in general were still "cheap" to buy. Only a couple of years later, the Z market exploded and while I made money on every one of them (read: "I didn't lose any money"), it's not something I would be able to do again given the major buy-in $$ it takes to get into any of them today. I think my timing was just luck. Point is that I got to enjoy the work that I did do without risking anything and nothing major needed to be done to any of them.
Not shown (due to a hard drive failure): Any of my contemporary Zs, another pair of S30s, nor my last project car, an S130 Turbo. Still hunting a few rare models but not holding out much hope finding them. And the others I've seen (another couple of Shiro Specials) were priced far out of the range of reason.
How is this all relevant? Wellllll, I got the roadster on Bring A Trailer.....

beautiful cars. I always wanted a 280Z. back when I was young they were all over the place and easy to get. today they're like older mustangs. you can still get one for a fair price but if it needs work, it'll need a lot of work. I sold my restored 68 Mustang for 20K. haven't gone back to that time period since. I enjoy newer cars now where you don't have to hunt for parts and fix basic things like rusted out floor panels. All of the 2000s models that I have now are the classics of 10 years from now. something about that era. The early fast and furious age maybe. I like everything that came out of that decade.

There's a forum user in the private classifieds with a super clean 06 Revup Enthusiast, garage kept, single owner, 35kmi, asking 16k (was 19k) obo right now (Link: https://my350z.com/forum/market/628400). Just wish he posted some interior shots.
Man! Where was this guy back in 2018!? This one appears even cleaner than the Z I picked up back then (same color to!). I'm seriously tempted to pick it up just to keep it safe from the drift kiddies. I have a Revup VQ problem.
Cheers!

Psh. About as ridiculous as the merry-go-round new acquisition.

For that kind of cash, I would look for a used R35. I recently got to drive the new Z (RZ34), it was actually the shop car for Z Car Garage in SJ, CA. It's a very different experience from the Z33, you can tell Nissan designed it with a focus on comfort. It feels a lot like a GT car. I really like the interior and the seats, but the stock suspension feels very soft, there's a lot of up/down pitch with the front nose under acceleration and braking. They dulled the sensitivity/feedback from just about everything. The gas pedal input isn't sensitive like the Z33, the shifter is very easy/smooth, and the clutch pedal feels very much like a Euro car with very little effort required to press it.
In short, I feel like the new Z is targeting the GenX or Boomer demographic. If the price wasn't proof enough, then emphasis on driver comfort really drive's this home. But that's just my opinion.
Cheers!
