Taping it would not be the solution so it seems
removing it would.
but it woud be better to wait to see what nissan comes out with
since ZISME has stated that they are looking into the problem

Sorry guys, worth a shot, took a look with my fingers and the wire attached to the mic seems to be fixed, no plug.
Tom is right, fix should be a few days away.
The service guy seemed to think that Nissan will reprogram the amp for the fix. That would be good, hopefully something done right on the spot.

Just a question; you guys having volume problems, do you have the navigation unit?
If the nav is in use and "the voice" gives instructions, the radio volume goes down. Now if you have "the voice" set all the way down, it may be inaudible, yet the music volume still goes down.
Just a thought.

OK, so I tried this "fix", but with a variation. A piece of tape ain't gonna cut it. I went with a little square of "female" Velcro, you know, the fuzzy side. I figured that with that material buffering the mic as well as the tape backing that I had a much better chance of really blocking out any ambient noise in the cabin. Good news, it works. No more volume changes. Bad news, there's still a wiring/amp issue with the Bose that affects the sub, something we've already been told.
Just wanted to pass this along in the hope that someone doesn't go into the steering column to actually cut the mic wire and perhaps create a situation where the dealership doesn't want to do the Bose fix because you've somehow altered the system. I will however be asking the dealership to permanently dis-able that mic when I go in for the fix.
