Default SOLVED - what does 2 long 2 short flashing SRS light mean?

2005 350z enthusiast .

light has been flashing steady for weeks

Today I replaced the the clock spring and cleared the code by doing the (turn off wait until light turns off, turn Off.....repeat four times)

Once all buttoned up, the light came one, with the a steady flashing. did the (turn off wait until light turns off, turn Off.....repeat four times), which put it into diagnostic mode and got the 2 long and 2 short.....code 22.

What is code 22 ? and what are some of the trouble shooting exercises to do?

UPDATE: after stopping for gas, the light went out and stopped flashing for the time being.

UPDATE(08/07/2019): came back on (on 8/5/2019), tried to get it to blink a code at me, but couldn't seem to ...ended up clearing the code/light and so far hasn't come back on.

CFAUVEL,

I assume you mean the SRS light is flashing, not the ABS light.

Attached are 3 pages from the srs.pdf section of the Service Manual. You can download the complete manual, section by section, here: https://nicoclub.com/archives/nissan...e-manuals.html.

Your problem seems to be with the driver side seat airbag. The most common cause is a loose connector, located under the seat.

Did you turn the key on, with the driver's (horn) airbag disconnected? That will flag the SRS everytime...same thing happens if you unplug any connectors on the seats and turn the key on...

As long as the horn is properly connected (2 plugs for a US model--orange and yellow I think), you should be able to manually reset the SRS (procedure is online) or use a good scan tool to reset the SRS system.

Also, be sure to zero your clockspring too (Steering Angle Sensor--SAS), or it will drive your TCS nuts, even if its out by a little bit...its dangerous to drive the car with a non-zero'd clock spring--you will be driving down the road at 45+ and it will engage the brakes and go haywire... trust me on this.

I ended up buying a $250 meter that I could use to reset the clockspring, and everything has been fine since.

Sorry guys....yes I meant the SRS light.

Karl,
can I simply disconnect the plugs under the seat then plug them back in? Should I disconnect the battery for 3-10 minutes just in case? If not the connector is there a weight sensor in the seat that could be faulty?

OneCoolee,
No I didn't turn the car on during my clock spring replacement...My Enthusiast doesn't have the steering angle sensor(SAS) behind the clock spring...just learned about those.

Disconnecting the battery would be god practice. Your 2005 Enthusiast doesn't have a weight sensor, and if it did, you would get a different flash pattern.

There are two connectors under the driver's seat: one for the seat airbag (yellow) and one for the seat belt buckle (white). You might as well check both.

UPDATE: it's been about a week and knock on wood the SRS light hasn't re-started to blink...and I didn't mess with the connectors under the driver's seat, yet
