Unhappy How to turn off airbag light

Hi guys,
So here's the thing, I have 2004 roadster and about four years ago I hit a sidewalk and my side airbag was deployed. Now its time to sell my Z but I want to get it fixed first so the next owner will be safe. So I got a used seat from another Z and replaced it with mine. The problem is that the airbag light still doesn't turn off. What should I do now? The mechanic who installed the seat, tried resetting the computer multiple times but he said the code doesn't show up in the current fault codes but in the history, therefore he can't reset that light. I also tried doing the manual code reset with the key in ignition but that didn't do anything for me.

PLEASE help me turn that light off! I would really appreciate any help.

Go to someone with a real scanner. It will tell you the problem. My scanner was $100 and does airbag codes/deletes light/fault

Thanks but that mechanic is a legit mechanic. They have certified Nissan technicians and they tried with multiple scanners. I'll try contacting another mechanic.

If he/she was a "legit" certified Nissan Technician he would have fixed your issue

Lol, he can... by changing the airbag module and that would cost me $1200. Quite pricey for me, so I thought there might be some other way around.

I'll ask the obvious question; what's the status of the airbag in the replacement seat?

That's weird they are $25 on ebay. Sounds like you're being scammed.

Plan on spending the money to replace the module and have a professional reset the system.

I believe the modules (and I am not 100% sure with the Nissans) are one time use only.

Shouldn't have hit the sidewalk ... and when has sidewalk ever triggered airbags?

It sounds to me like you've determined the cost for the next owner to be safe

It seems like for 450 you have the full set.
What about the seat belts? Did they check it?

I think a portion of the cost is the guy to come with the fancy computer and reset everything. My experience is coming from a t-bone'd mx-5 and it was $400 for the guy to check everything out and reset the light.

So how I hit the sidewalk was that I spun out and the rear tire hit the curb. The $1200 cost is coming from the dealer itself, just the part (SRS airbag module) is $955 from Nissan dealership. I went to another mechanic today and it doesn't show up in his scanner either. I asked other people about this and things are just getting confusing. Some told me that there could be a connection issue with the seatbelt or a sensor on the seat might not be working properly. Some told me to get it reset but then I found out from YouTube videos and forums and actually the dealership itself that the module is a one time use and I'll have to get another one. Even the people selling the reset service aren't sure if that will fix my issue because there could be a number of things that could cause the light to stay on. I also tried searching the module on Ebay and found stuff like ajpasa gave me here but two mechanics told me that they might not work because they would need to be programmed for my car. I was hoping to get this fixed under $150 but now it seems like it will cost me a lot money

Hey man, I feel your pain. The worst here is not being able to trust the dealership, it's not even about the money.
In my opinion, based on your level of confidence, you have to go to the dealer. As iideadeyeii mentioned, the best is to start with a real deal scanner, since you don't need to check piece by piece, which is the other possible solution.

I put 07-08 Nismo seats in my roadster and I have the ABS light on. Both seats have airbags and they replaced my factory seats that had airbags. It doesnt make sense to me. I did the resistor mod to (3.3 ohm resistor jumpered on the ABS connector) and it didnt work.

So to give you guys an update, my issue was finally resolved. All I did was get the module reset. It sits in the center console, so just took it out and went to the airbag repair shop and they were able to reset for $60, that was it. Plugged the module back in and the light now turns off after few seconds (like it should). All is back to normal and I'm a happy man again!

You could have saved yourself $60. You can reset the airbag warning light just by using the ignition key a stopwatch and by going through two procedures, one to put the system into diagnostic mode and another to clear the airbag light. It takes about thirty seconds. I would just say that i wouldn't advise doing this unless you knew what code had been triggered and that it was safe to go ahead with the above procedure, but saying that if you used the ignition key method and the light kept coming on you'd need to investigate further anyway.
