Default Flashing Airbag Light - Comes back after reset

My airbag light started flashing out of nowhere. I was just driving on the highway. I did the reset procedure and the light will stay off for maybe 20-30 miles, then comes back back while I'm driving. I don't get any code, just 3 seconds on, 2 seconds off, so I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. Could it be a loose wire? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

sounds like you will be visiting the dealership. Usually if you do the reset procedure and it comes back on you have some type of issue.

Check under your drivers seat, there may be something loose and try the reset again.

I would get the light nearly every week until I started storing my foldout sunshade under the passenger seat. I haven't had the light return in nearly 6 months.

I unplugged the wired under the driver's seat and plugged it back in firmly. Light still came back on... I may leave the wire unplugged and see if that gives me anything different.

If the airbag module is shot would that give me an error code other than the steady flashing?

I was told you have to reset it three times before it will actually stay off

I did the reset tons of times before I stopped storing things under my seat and it went away so this can't be the case.

So yours was going off just from stuff bumping the wires? I've been moving my seat around a lot lately. I wonder if that's doing it...

The sunshade was crimping the wires and was a tight fit underneath the seat.

Take a look underneath the seat and make sure you didn't pull any of the cables.

Alright, I've reset it for like the 4th or 5th time now. Just this past time I unplugged the cable under the seat to see what happens. The light came on a lot quicker. Maybe there is a bad wire somewhere the is getting bumped loose or something. I still don't really have any idea.

It is very likely that you have a lose wire, I took my z in to the dealership for them to reset the airbag sensor, their diagnostics test determined that it was a lose or broken ground wire behind the stereo which had been installed a couple of weeks before.

If it is a loose wire, I can't find it. I tried looking at the electrical crap and I don't really know what I'm looking at. Nothing looked loose, frayed, broken, etc. Unfortunately I'm going to take it to the stealership. I'll bring my vaseline and cross my fingers it's only a couple hundred bucks.

re-setting the air bag light will set you back 92.00 plus tax. they need to do the diagnostic test to be able to pin point the problem.

Yeah, I was going to tell them I reset it like 7 times already and that they need to run the diagnostic.

$92 is crap, geez. I can reset it with my key in literally one minute.
