Replacing radiator. Not draining block. Do I need to bleed the whole system?

Default Replacing radiator. Not draining block. Do I need to bleed the whole system?

My radiator is leaking. It's getting bad so I just want to replace it quickly. I work a lot so I don't have much time to commit to this.

If I replace just the radiator do I have to do the whole long bleed procedure? Or can I just fill the radiator back up?

most likely will need a bleed. i mean the bleeding part is prob a quarter of the effort of replacing the radiator itself if you have the lisel funnel. plus its fun to use.

You will DEFINITELY need to bleed. Replace it, fill it, bleed, bleed, bleed!

Thanks for this tip - I wasn't aware of this tool to help with cooling system fill and bleeding! The Lisle 24970 is now on my shopping list

Its an easy fix since there is plenty of room to play with, but yes bleeding is recommended and make sure you you do it right.

I did complete the job. What a PITA. Hard to get the condense out of the way. I bled the system. Some air came blowing out of the the bleeder and flung some coolant. And this was while it was still cold. I'm feeling like that air was already in the system since I didn't drain the block.

Glad to hear you got it done. yes it can be a PITA, but I do not recall removing my whole AC condenser (this was years ago though and my memory isn't that sharp). As long as you lifted the front end, turned up the heater to max and revved to 3k then idle (and repeated multiple times) then you should of gotten all air out of the system. There is also a bleeder valve towards the passenger firewall that you can use to bleed also (although that can get messy).
