You'll need to drain the coolant before disconnecting the hoses unless you don't mind making a big mess. Dumping antifreeze is bad, since it's poisonous to plants and animals.

Get a copy of the service manual to get the procedure for taking the radiator out. You'll definitely need it for putting everything back together and getting ALL the air out of the system.

Taking out the radiator is a ton of work. Are you sure you need to do this?

The drain plug is on the bottom of the radiator, pretty much right under the fill cap. Be sure you have something to catch the 9.5 qts that will come out.

Did you really have to ask if you need to drain the radiator to remove it? I feel like that is pretty much common knowledge.

If a radiator is a ton of work, i would hate to know what you consider a a simple job.

Hello everyone, My car is overheating, when I take it on the road in about 1 minute the c/h gauge seems to elevate and another minute the car is overheating. I never drive when the temp is all the way up. I took it to a dealership for a diagnostics check and they said leak in radiator and a bent coolant pipe, they bent the pipe back as far as they could. I changed the radiator, (brand new) and put new coolant, and put a brand new thermostat in the car. After all of this work the car is still overheating and there are no leaks! The fans both spin and Im not getting heat in the cabin. Dealer said its not head gasket, so what is left, what can I do? Help please, I really wanna drive my car!

you have air in the lines still. You need to purge out the air. Lift the rear of the car, massage out some air using the techniques in the service manual. Theres also a no air filler that'll let you fill the radiator without air.
