Powerhouse Amuse Supperleggera; Can you tell if this is real?
I've never seen an Amuse kit for sale before so I don't know exactly how to differentiate in a sale ad.
So, I came across a chance to buy "claimed" authentic Powerhouse Amuse Fenders + Sideskirts + Rear Over fender for $500 OBO. The story is that he just sold his Z33; when the seller bought the Z, the previous owner before him gave him the body kit that belonged with it, stating that he paid over $7K from Japan for it. The seller said the previous owner was an older man, old timer even he said, could forward contact info but that was not my business to bother him. That time gap probably explain why it's beat, just sitting in the garage these years now though.
The question is, does Powerhouse Amuse stamp their body kit? Anyone knows if they do? The seller says he couldn't find the stamps anywhere or know where to look for. I would think VIS does stamp their kit.
The seller did say there's only a marker lettering saying "A-1" on the fender. I am 2-hours away from his city, but I am almost willing to test this out.
I know one way to tell is the rear fender arch, the end has to be somewhat thinner. While VIS comes out like a giant block as it approaches the turning light on the rear bumper.

I remember reading through a thread a while back where one of our respectable members explained exactly what to look for. I will have to see if I can find the thread.
I will tell you just off life experience that for $500 for an originally $7k kit something seems sketchy and it is most likely NOT legit. Even with the wear it shows.

Oh, I’m not sure about that. Consider that the seller of the kit has no skin in the game since he didn’t buy it with it coming with the car and just wants it gone. But yeah, in general, I do agree though, that that is generally the case
I have been known to move stuff at ridiculous prices because I have zero need to keep/zero $$ in (“came with the car” kinda things like my original AMG wheels, unloaded for $250 which fetch over a grand normally, no care, they’re gone and not cluttering my garage!)
I would suggest that if you’re (OP) that interested in this kit, go look at it carefully, meet the seller to see how you feel about him, then go from there. Consider it a 400 mile leisurely road trip!
EDIT: Just looked at pics on real computer. Ummm, no. Looks pretty crappy.
Just from the pictures it is obviously not real. The wire mesh is all wrong, the thickness by the turn signals is incorrect like you mentioned, and the vents behind the front wheels are single blade rather than the dual blade on the amuse.

Interesting remarks about the blades. I’ll take a closer look when I’m home.
Anyhow, I was curious if there’s was clear cut answer but seemingly I had a feeling it was no good due to rear fender thickness but I wanted some eyes to double check.
I wouldn’t mind working on repairing but not about to do work on replicas. Still wonder about the stamp part. Pretty cheap overall, though I suppose I’ll let someone else enjoy the possibilities of doing a 400 mile round trip.
i did try to look for an existing thread but only found exhaust thread which is cool, but not the same.
